My wife and I stopped here only by chance. When we first pulled up we were a little concerned because it is a little run down looking. We placed our order and they let us know it would take a while since everything was cooked made to order. I have to say this might have been the BEST meal of the trip. The fried chicken was especially good.

the driver took us to this local restaurant before our stop at the Black River Safari...which is literally behind the restaurant. We ordered curry chicken, ox tail, stir fried lobster, chick soup, our driver ordered curry intestines. All of which were really tasty and good..similar to Asian food.

Jamaica is known for coffee and rum and just by chance those were the two flavours l chose. Well, a week later and back in the grey old UK l am still dreaming of those flavours. Amazing.

We were in Treasure Beach for several weeks and ate at Strikie T's twice. (It's easy to find--almost across the street from Rainbow Tree Villa.) The proprietor, Chris, is a very experienced cook and a very friendly guy. On top of that, he provides "entertainment" by actually dancing in the kitchen as he prepares your food. Both the food and presentation were excellent, and the prices were more than fair. During the two different meals, we had coconut shrimp, lobster, jerk chicken pasta, and freshly caught snapper. Each meal came with an ample amount of vegetables; I will note these were cooked perfectly as opposed to being overly cooked as seems to be the Jamaican style. We each had two drinks with dinner, usually rum punch or a Red Stripe. The meals averaged $13 (US) each with the two drinks plus a tip. Chris leaves Treasure Beach for several months from about mid-May to mid-October, and I am not sure if the place is open during that time. Another note: we heard but did do not know that his fish and vegetables are better than his chicken dishes.

Seafood Restaurant on the shore of the Black River
Sister Lou sells crab backs filled with delectable, exquisitely spiced crab meat. These are from blue crabs, harvested daily from the Black River. You can also get a bottle of Red Stripe, some Appleton, or a soft drink to accompany your food. Service is fast, and the food is delicious.
If you're staying in a place where you can cook, bring a cooler. If Sister Lou has any extra crab meat, she'll sell it to you by the pound.

If you want a true Jamaican experience, this friendly, authentic café is the perfect place for breakfast. Gently bustling with locals, playing on guitar or just chilling or chatting, you really feel part of the community here. Just expect very long waits for food, when it’s busy - of you can embrace this as part of the social experience, it ends up as most the fun.

Wonderful host/chef/storyteller.
The food was fresh, very tasty, and enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere while watching the world go by. Coffee was great, and the fresh squeezed orange juice tart and refreshing.
I especially enjoyed both Akee and Saltfish, as well as the mixed Callaloo and Spanish omelette. So much I had to go back and have it again the next day.
A great local business that deserves cherishing.
