Have dined here numerous times over the years.
The Restaurant is an easy 15-20 mins walk from the bus stop through the forest.
The outside Seating is recommended as has nice views of the valley below.
Service is friendly and menu on offer is varied.
Have thoroughly enjoyed each and every visit.

This was our most enjoyable dining experience in Saas-Fee. Other restaurants we tried served good food, but the Schaeferstube offered a menu that was higher quality and more interesting, with an attractive ambiance and great, friendly and relaxed service. And its a good walk up the hill to make you hungry! Book ahead.

The Vieux Chalet is a cosy Valais style restaurant. It is divided in two floors, and the upper floor is suitable for groups, families and clubs up to 30 persons. Our specialities: 20 different homemade cheese fondues * Fondue fun * Raclette * Rösti * Meat fondue Bourguignonne and Chinoise * Chocolat fondue * local wines * The smoker bar, which is completely seperated from the restaurant has Wireless. In other all big sport events get shown live over Teleclub and Ski Sport.
We arrived a little early for our 8.30pm reservation and were unceremoniously told to wait outside (in the freezing cold!) or in the (very smokey) bar, without even being asked for the name of the reservation. We returned at the appropriate time only to be told to go upstairs, where there seemed to be a number of empty tables. We stood there, being ignored for a while, which was quite strange. However, after this less than promising start we were eventually seated and our order taken (although a table who arrived after us seemed to have drinks first). Things then improved dramatically. We had an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING cheese fondue for three, which, despite our best efforts, the three of us could not finish. We followed this with a chocolate fondue, which was equally amazing. We really enjoyed the food, ambience and (once it got going) service in this restaurant, however it was just a shame that it was let down by the poor welcome.

We had lunch and found it good value for money. I had chilli con carne with bread and my friends had toasted sandwiches. Good selection of beers, soft drinks and wines. Overall enjoyable and comfortable.Dear Timothy K, We are very glad that you enjoyed our CofFee so much and we have met your taste. We would be very pleased if you visit our CofFee again at your next stay in Saas Fee. Sunny regards, Rica Sill

We visited this restaurant earlier on in the evening, so my only comment would be that it was a bit lacking in ambience at the beginning as there were not many people in the place. Some background music may have helped!
The service was excellent we had a very attentive and friendly waitress who was also a ski instructor by day who we chatted to.
The food was very good, steaks were excellent and juicy and came with a good selection of different sauces which was a good change to some restaurants where you are limited to only one sauce and not much of it. We also had some very good South African wine.
I was a little disappointed by the puddings we ordered, a little overpriced I thought for what we had.
Overall though I would recommend a visit later on in the evening to have their steaks.

Arvu Stuba is referred on lots of table booking sites - but I cant find a website for them
Three of us ordered rösti for dinner at Arvu Stuba - we were all very pleased! The service was ok, but not excellent. They could easily make some dishes vegan which was also good. Also to mention: the water was excellent! Good prices for for a dinner in the Swiss Alps. Would recommend!

While visiting friends in Saas-Fee, a lunch was scheduled and they suggested to go to restaurant Zur Mühle. It turned out to be an excellent choice. We all had different things to eat but my "Saaser Platter" (with air-cured meat, sliced cheese, Saas sausage, cured ham, etc.) stole the show. As you can see in the picture it's a mouthwatering mix of meat, cheese and veggies. Note that this is the SMALL version for 19 swiss francs, I can't imagine what the normal size would look like. It was served with two types of bread and butter. Definitely a place to visit again next time.

The restaurant is near the town center, nicely laid out, not too big. When we went there, lots of tables had been booked for later on in the evening. The salad bar is good. The pizzas were very nice and reasonably priced for the location. Both pizzas and pasta are also available gluten free.

A cozy little restaurant, family owned and run, this place is not one which you would regret! Great pizzas, delicious pastas...the food was freshly made and it is clear the people running the place have a passion for food given the fresh ingredients they use. A good evening spent here, and one I would recommend.
