In the heart of Romsey, the Suan Thai restaurant has been serving authentic Thai cuisine since 1997. Choose from a wide selection of original dishes, prepared by our award-winning chef and served with traditional Thai hospitality. We endeavor to make your dining experience with us one to remember, we don’t implement double sittings, you can stay and will want to all night. If you are celebrating a special occasion let us know (we have been known to embarrass the odd person celebrating a birthday). If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate them.
We always had a good experience when visiting Suan Thai in the past, but before yesterday it must have been a good 10 years since we paid a visit - so we were long overdue.
It was quite clear they haven't changed what was a successful formula; the food, service and ambiance were still very much up to the mark. Well cooked, plentiful portions, served well. An excellent place to enjoy Thai food - I'm very pleased we decided to entertain our guests there and it was still as good as we remembered.

Parts of the ancient building of the White Horse date back to the 16th century, and the two large Inglenook open fires bear testament to their heritage with their smoking chambers and their priest hole. These fires which are always alight during the winter months throw their heat into the various bar areas. The locals bar, with its dart board, and cosy village atmosphere retains the typical English pub image. Roaring log fire, the slap of cards on the table during a crib match and the thump of darts in the board, echo quietly in this bar. No background music can be heard, just the agitated discussions of the village elders who frequent this oasis of good beer & conversation. The lounge bar, with its equally large Inglenook can accommodate up to 40 people sitting and many more standing. Used by many people as a dining area, it still retains its “Olde World Charm”. A comfortable Chesterfield and deep farmhouse chairs merely add to the pleasant ambience of this lovely area. The restaurant has been built in a new area that extends towards the lovely pub garden. Seating 90 customers it makes a perfect place to enjoy the excellent food that is always available.
We visited on a Thursday night. It was cold outside but the Olde-English pub interior was warmed by a log fire. I ordered a pint of bitter, one of three real ales on offer. We were looking for only one course. I chose the rabbit and bacon pie (one of 5 or 6 on offer). The pastry was good and the inside of the pie OK but not exactly packed with meat. The small-sized potatoes had apparently been roasted (like jacket potatoes) instead of being boiled. They were fine. A jug of brown gravy accompanied the dish. My wife chose one of two fish dishes on the specials board: goujons of plaice with saute potatoes (requested instead of skin-on fries) and a side salad. The fish was good but the potatoes were nothing special. Anyway, it was a pleasant place to be and it made a change to get a tasty supper and a drink for two and to be able to pay with a £30-limit touch card! ,

This was our first visit to Three Tuns and were joined by two friends who live locally but hadn't dined at the pub before. The place is positively quaint, old-worldy with wooden floors, chairs and tables and low celings. The reception from the staff was friendly and when we asked to move to a more suitable table they were very accommodating. All in all the service couldn't be faulted. The range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages was good. The food, however, was disappointing, especially the much talked-about home-made pies which we all opted for - two beef and two chicken. They were rather ordinary, the gravy was a little tasteless and veg a little undercooked. The one dessert we had, panna cotta with rhubarb and, strangely, raw carrots - was bland and certainly not worth the price. Probably won't rush back!

This place is truly a little piece of France.. from the french speaking staff to the decor to the ambiance...and the food.
We enjoyed our Valentines supper, the place was packed.
We started with a little Valentines champagne cocktail aperitif .
My French onion soup was the real thing and my wife's goat's cheese salad was to die for with hints of thyme...
The main of Sirlion steak was interesting.. I should have known to order it medium in a French restaurant.. I requested med/rare.. it came blue... however I asked for it to be cooked more it came rare..
Just as well the Brouilly red wine was so well matched to the steak and a perfect temperature.
This place is not cheap but you get what you pay for..
A very romantic, special evening as always...

Set in the heart of Romsey, The White Horse Brasserie opens onto its own delightful courtyard. The acclaimed 2AA Rosette brasserie is a wonderful place to enjoy every occasion from a romantic dinner for two to a family lunch. Head Chef Chris Rock's accomplished menu serves modern British classics following the seasons.
We chose from the menu in the lounge whilst enjoying a first drink. Over three courses and six different dishes we enjoyed a great range of flavours and tastes, accompanied by one of the least expensive bottles of wine that was also very tasty.
The setting is smart making for a great evening to remember. Give it a go.

we needed a place that could hold a number of guests for a family gathering. we had pre ordered tea and cakes, the cakes were not only delicious but generous portions. there ar a couple of rooms going off the main bar so people could gather in groups. it was ideal. the pub itself is nice and well known for its great food.

Situated up the delightful Love Lane is this strangely named pub which was buzzing on a Friday night when we visited. The little booths situated on the right are great place to watch the happy Romsey crowd at play. Good selection of beers and good sharing boards. Don't forget to visit the spectacular abbey- one of the best in southern England

Friendly, busy pub with good beer. Very welcoming and my first visit on a Tuesday night coincided with darts & steak offer night. Charming team seated me at the bar and looked after me. Excellent crab cakes & plaice fillets with amazing mash. Will return.
