Hamarstua is located next to the Cathedral ruins in Hamar, with beautiful views of the lake. Perhaps surprisingly for such an inland place, it has superb seafood. If you're there go for the seafood platter. Quite expensive - but superb quality shrimp, red crab, king crab, langoustine, crayfish, scallops etc., etc. Add to that a nice atmosphere and you're certain to have a great time.

Tingnes eatery is located at Nes with a beautiful view over lake Mjosa and Helgoya. Here you can enjoy a cup of coffe or a nice meal based on locally produced ingredients. The menu is varied and diversed.
Short travelled traditional food, made from locally produced raw materials.
The traditional Norwegian inland recipés, with a modern and chic twist.
The views are nice, of the lake Mjösa and the Helgöya island. The interior decoration is clean and "scandinavian", with a dominance of whites and spartan decoration.
The food is excellent quality, and abundant.

Great atmosphere, and the location is perfect for both dining and as a starting point of an evening out. This time I ordered Nigiri, and thought the price was as expected. They say that "a piece should not be to big and and not with to much rice.." So prepare to order some more than you usually does. But anyway the taste is really great!

Great cafe with eclectic style makes this a very nice alternative to all the lookalike cafes in town.
This shop-come-cafe serves delicious coffee and various delicious cakes. We all arrived looking for an afternoon temptation, and all left happily satisfied a few calories later.
We'll be back for more.

I reviewed this place several years ago after suggesting them to Tripadvisor. Some minor corrections are due - from a small fast-food'ish place they have grown to be a small, clean and nice restaurant we frequently pick up food from, and sometimes sit down to eat. They've also added some new dishes to their futomaki menu (our favorite) which are delicious.
The staff is still great, the food is on the WOW scale (impressive for a small town like Gjøvik) and the place is always nice and clean. Keep up the good work Jako, and everyone else - go there and taste it!

Consistently good service and food! Fresh ingredients always. But the best part, it is one of two restaurants in Hamar where the staff actually can be bothered to remember your face and your favourites on the menu. The customer service alone has gained the loyalty of my kids, husband and I. This is the best value for money family restaurant in Hamar. It is not pretentious, it is just brilliant any day of the week!

Enjoyed a very large Pizza at Pizzanini - tasty with generous toppings. Waiter service friendly. (Pastas, steaks available). Mixed range of clientèle - student age, after work colleagues through to the more mature with everyone appearing to enjoy their food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Skafferiet is a hidden gem of Norwegian rustic country life on Helgøya island. The cafe is located in a renovated cottage which has lovely views over the farm and island. It's equally wonderful to visit in both winter and summer. It's very popular (especially in summer) so there can be queues but it's well worth the detour and the wait.
There is a selection of coffee, tea, juices as well as sandwiches, pie, salad and famous cakes. You cannot go to Skafferiet and not order a cake. My favourite it the berry cake with vanilla cream - divine! And if you are lucky enough to visit in winter when everything is covered in snow, the hot chocolate is rich and decadent.
I take all our visitors to Skafferiet to show them a piece of idyllic country life. Make sure you stop by!
