Drove from Nürnberg to the Netherlands last week. Near Dortmund it was time for lunch. I hate using motorway service stations. Left the autobahn 2 at exit 10. Recklinghausen Süd. Turned right, right again and at the roundabout left. Saw restaurant Klostermann. 5 minutes from the autobahn. The outside garden was a treat, food excellent, sevice spot on, no cues, no big hordes at the toilets. I don't know what we would have paid at a service station, but we would not have got the service, quality of food nor the rest as we got at restaurant Klostermann. Very much worth the 5 minutes to get there.

Nach dem schlechten Boente versuchte ich, Dank Tripadvisor, die Osteria Silvana. Hier wurden meine Erwartungen voll erfüllt. Sehr nette und flotte Bedienungen und sehr gute italienische Küche. Gute Auswahl an Weinen, alles perfekt. Danke

This restaurant is situated vis-a-vis an abandoned departmentstore, So its patio is a poor location for smokers. Once you´re inside the pub it´s agreable. Food is what is held for Italian or mediterranian, without inspiration, but without major faults, too. Wines are mediocre.

With heart out, cooked with attention to detail, hosted by ear at the inn - these are our main ingredients!
In Reck to support the local pro basketball team -- CityBasket Recklinghausen. Covered all the restaurants in town -- this one was definitely up there!... (along with the Italian restaurant next door)... Nice dinner after game -- accommodated larger group and stayed open late for us. Great service. Great food. On pricey side for us, but...worth the splurge. I had the duck -- which was fabulous. Chef does nice job of blending flavors and creating interesting/satisfying combinations.
We'll be back -- Go Citybasket!

Technically it's not cash only as they also take EC, but if you are Reading this in English, then you probably don't have EC, so effectively it is cash only. On my way out I looked for some type of sign concerning payment. There might have been one but
I didn't see it. Thankfully I had (barely) enough Euros to cover the bill.
Over the years I've spent several months in Germany and this is the first time I've run across this in something other than a street vendor.
The place is nicely decorated. But the nice decor is taken down a few notches by the paper napkins on the table.
The pasta dish I had was good as was the service.
They don't have a website, just a facebook page. And if they have a menu posted online anywhere, I couldn't find it. Which is important because to me, it's a bit of an odd mix.
So between not taking VISA and not having a menu posted online, I don't think they are really interested in the tourist trade. Which might be exactly what you are looking for. But be sure to bring a way to pay.

I was about to met a friend I haven't seen in 10 years in the favorite place of my sister and her husband, the Goldstück in Recklinghausen, Germany. My sister told me much about this place but when I walked in I was a bit...MoreDear CHMbangkok, Thank your very much for your rating. Hope to see you soon again in our bar manufacture. Kind regards
