Radebeul is a town (große Kreisstadt) in the Elbe valley in the district of Meißen in Saxony, Germany, a suburb of Dresden. It is well known for its viticulture, a museum dedicated to writer Karl May and a narrow gauge railway connecting Radebeul with the castle of Moritzburg and the town of Radeburg. The Meißen area, where Radebeul is located, is one of the northeasternmost areas where wine is grown today.

Perhaps not surprisingly bearing in mind the name, the decor and setting reflected the early 20th century. However I would have expected that the food would be a little more inventive. The four of us had a selection of the specials, The meat ball in particular was pretty tasteless and the dumplings stodgy. Whilst this is meant to represent the cooking of a grandmother, not all grandmothers are good enough cooks to run a restaurant. Filling and adequate, not a great eating experience, but a great venue and friendly staff

... where you can get a gastronomic orgasm.
The place is nice, with a well balanced design (not too trendy, not too classic) and the food is often surprising with a high quality standard.
However I got the feeling that they have struggeled to maintain the level or I was simply to used to be surprised there that I got used to it and did not realized it.

The atmosphere on the first floor was a bit like a canteen, not very cosy. The brewpub on the ground floor looked very nice, though. We had to take the table upstairs because we did not have a reservation...
The food and beers we had were fine, nothing out of the ordinary, but that's what we expected.

We came here because of the many positive comments about this place - and they were right! Very professional, very nice location, very good food and vine. We choose the 5-course set surprise meal - they won't tell you what they will bring, but trust me it as all delicious! And all this for € 35 (8-course-menu 45 €!) Come here as a couple or with friends: you will always like it.

Fun place to eat , drink beer and learn line dancing! Herr Horn is very entertaining, a one man band ! Then, the real fun begins when he plays recorded music and teaches the steps for country line dancing!

TheSpitzhaus restaurant was a 10 minute drive from our vacation apartment in the Wilder Mann neighborhood of Dresden and was recommended by friends-of-friends. We were glad we had the navigation system to aid us in getting there - the restaurant is in a rather out-of-the-way location.
The service was slow, but friendly (in helping us translate the menu) and accommodating (in preparing a dish that was no longer on the menu). My salmon, my son's schnitzel, and our friend's mushroom dish were all good.
The view was beautiful! A lovely place to spend a summer's evening.

We decided to enjoy the sunny and warm weather with esthetic surroundings. So the best bet was to head to Schloss Wackerbarth with vineyard views. The lunch menu was very creative using seasonal white asparagus, rhubarb and local herbs in better than the often found "same, same" boring way. Our dishes looked great and tasted even better. Every promise from Reading the menu came true. Grilled rhubarb and strawberry creme brûlée topped our lovely lazy lunch in the sun. Excellent value for money ... and no plastic outdoor furniture.

It was a great choice to reserve a table in this tiny place. Our host not only welcomed us nicely but also enquired about our wine preferences. We ended up only drinking the wine he recommended, and it was a fabulous idea. We even went back the next day to taste more. Even though the menu was small (we had known that before), the food was delicious. The homemade bread was warm and all we needed with the wine. We will come back for sure!
