On the route from Turin to the Lago maggiore, we decided to make a little detour to visit Michelin Starred restaurant near Biella. The restaurant is located in the middle of Pollone. When coming from the village and descending to the restaurant, we had to pass an ugly 1970 hotel complex which does not do any justice to the beautifully restored 18th century stable complex in which the restaurant is now located. The stable complex, forming a cavernous space with arcades and a newer extension. In front of the restaurant, south-facing, there is now a Terrace, where we were shown to our table. On this Thursday Lunchtime it was quiet with only another couple having Lunch. The waitress was very friendly and courteous, and we wer given explanations about some of the dishes. We chose Fungi (from the specials of the day) and the Spaghetti con e pomodoro con zucchini as startrs and the again the same spaghetti and the lamb as mains. Excellent bread, and grissini were served as well. All dishes were of excellent quality, as expected for a Michelin starred restaurant. In fact this restaurant confirmed a (personal) rule of thumb, that the bread always, always is the best indicator for the efforts a chef makes. It is a reliable indicator for the overall cuisine. We shared a bottle of a red wine (Torrearsa). This was a very pleasant atmosphere excellent cuisine and the whole meal for less than €100!. We will come here again, when in the area.

Hidden gem. Middle of nowhere. Amazing view. Near the village castle. Exceptional food quality. White truffle linguine were out of this world, but you can not limit this restaurant to pasta. Quite simply anyone should go. We were well received. Impeccable service.

We had a very nice meal here in August 2012, the restaurant is hard to find and we needed directions from our B&B host (who is a friend of the owner). It is more like a private house from the outside, and admittance is down a garden path, but once inside there is a pleasant set of eating rooms, it all felt very cosy and friendly.
The food (as most food in Italy) was superb, with a local pasta and a Piedmontese speciality pudding, the menu was wide enough to give choice but not over the top, vegetarians can eat well here too. Highly recommended for a special and intimate meal in a nice setting, and not too expensive either, would definitely come here again...!

We were on a business trip and went there on the recommendation of the hotel. Tried a tasting menu of 6 courses. We asked for some changes and restaurant was very helpful in accommodating our requests. Everything was pure delicious. Following the waiters recommendation had a great Piomente wine. Overall price for the quality was fair. Had a great special gourmet night.

There are many restaurants that serve this dish unfortunately not close to my home and Reservations for this dish are mandatory in the majority of the restaurants (understand why!). We made quite a drive to this place (famous for this dish) just to taste their version. A normal house by the road converted into restaurant, read that they enlarged the dining room upstairs, it was clean, normal, packed, seems that is a favorite place for family gatherings.
Well, the service at lunch (saturday) was the all you can eat system, waiters approach to the table with the dishes, you have a look and get portion wanted… that day they served for starter: stuffed peppers, whitefish (was tasty), slices of cured meats (ok), fresh tomino (cheese) with onions marmalade, raw meat with bagna cauda, soufflé and mini lasagna… not the end, we came here purposely to have the fritto misto piemontese which is the Piedmontese offal dish served with vegetables, fruit, cheese all battered and fried, they are salt and sweet together… this one came with brains, liver, amaretti biscuits, fried cream, zucchini, prunes, apples, was more sweet than salty, not bad but mate didn’t like it much… I was disappointed the fact that came just brains and liver, no lungs, tongues, kidneys etc.
Prices were reasonable and service was OK.

Located in the old town of Candelo the location in it self is very special. You have to enter the old village and take one of the narrow lanes down to the Restaurant. Would have been a little difficult to find around dinnertime without daylight if we hadn’t made some research prior to going there, but yes you have to go down the dark old lanes with limited light. But that being said it is worth the effort. Going there of season we had no problem getting a table, but not sure if that would work in the summertime – better reserve.
For starters we had Fiori di Zuchinni and Gnocchini gratin tartufu blanche which was fantastic. For main we had chateaubriand, which was very tasty and prepared just right. Plenty of good wine offered, we just went for the house wine, which was fine – and priced at just 9EUR – yes you read it right. In general the prices are very attractive and we ended up paying EUR 75 for 2 people (excl tip), which for that quality is a real bargain.
The waiter was just perfect and the atmosphere of the place fantastic. Highly recommended

We were traveling for business and found this little restaurant. I must say with cars blocking the entrance and with looks of the outside of the restaurant it looks like an average store. However, this is top notch place with extremely polite, helpful and sincere waitress and the chef.
We were in rush and had less than an hour for lunch (which is too short for a proper Italian lunch), they helped with the choices.
I had home made tagliatelle with lamb and porcini and my colleague had the homemade tagliolini with the local cheese (shame on me i did not note the name). Both were delicious. We had a glass of light red from Alto Adige - also recommended by the restaurant, it was soft and not overpowering the food. And shared a suoufle. I would definitely go there again. Wonderful place.

We ate there with my family on a weekend trip, we were surprised by quiet and warm atmosphere of the restaurant. We didn't know what to drink so we asked the waiter for advice, he brought the best Italian white wine I have ever drank:...MoreGrazie mille per la bella recensione a presto ;=))

I don't know whether I would have found this place without the help of a friend who knows the region. It is beautifully situated on top of a hill, in a remote village. The daughter runs the place, la mama is in the kitchen and il papa takes care of the beehives, picks mushrooms for the evening dinner, and tends to fresh produce. The decor is cozy and tasteful. Candlelight guides to the entrance. You eat what la mama puts on the table : antipasti, primi, secondi, dessert, cheese, coffee, water, wine. We had far too much to eat, but it was far too delicious to remain reasonable. The service was accomodating, friendly... like visiting friends. Don't forget to take a pot of honey back home. It can't get more authentic. P.S. give them a ring to book a table.

Ex chef Max opened this cute restaurant a few years ago, offering traditional piadina type sandwiches and creating his own. Ingredients of high quality, fantastic compositions and he makes sure he fills them up nicely! Lunch or dinner, if you have one of these you do not need any accompaniment dish to satisfy your appetite, just a soft drink or beer to wash one down. So, not only they are absolutely scrumptious but great value for money too... Relaxing atmosphere with a spacious garden, ideal for lazy summer days. Lovely service too, with a smile...
