if you want to experience authentic madeiran cuisine this has to be the number one choice. i visited it a few times with friends during a recent trip to Madeira and we had amazing food and loved the wonderful atmosphere of this unique family owned restaurant. the green wine (which is served from a tap not a bottle) was some of the best i have tasted, the staff (although busy) were always welcoming and friendly, and the portions are very generous. the fish stew with tuna was my favourite, the potatoes and sweet potatoes were some of the best i have tasted in my life (yes i'm a potato connoisseur).
i'm so glad places like this still exist and remain true to a philosophy of good, honest food, locally sourced and beautifully cooked. a real gem.
(if you visit the restaurant you should take time to explore Prazeres village - the community farm with tea shop and gallery is ideal for a short visit with children.)

quero mudar a categoria da minha empresa. Está como café e chá.. mas o estabelecimento é restaurante.
We stopped here on a hotel tour to taste the best poncha in Madeira. They made it from freshly squeezed oranges, lemons, local honey and local rum. It was delicious. So much so that we ordered some to go and also a box of their delicious ‘Chico Balls’. Very friendly service and a lovely cosy restaurant. Definitely will visit again on our next vacation.

Because we value good service, and we believe in working with quality, we only open by reservation in advance. We are just two people, in this typically family restaurant, and we try to provide a fantastic experience to who chooses our restaurant to eat.
We went to this restaurant since we heard amazing things from our local relatives. And it was worth every km to get there! The owner and his wife were very kind and attentive and the food was awesome.
The starters were very good (brie cheese melted with herbs, shrimps, mushroom with cheese, mussels with butter and pork ribs with agri-doce sauce)
Our Main course was stuffed chicken, and it was also great! For desert we had a delicious passion fruit mousse.
Certainly recommended!

Brillant. Friendly welcome. Patience with our 4yo and colouring in book for him to contribute to. My Espetada (steak on a skewer) was the best of the holiday and my wife really enjoyed her chic-pea and cheese salad. My wife understands that Madeira is not ideal for veggies, but Anna (the chef) shows what can be down with a little imagination.
Service from Jeff was brilliant - can't wait to see them again next visit!!!!

The Solar dos Prazeres Restaurant, located in Prazeres in the municipality of Calheta, has been a successful restaurant since its opening 14 years ago. It is said to be "the" place to go to eat the best Cod on the Grill in Madeira which is complemented by tender quality meats used to serve up its Espetadas; or its always fresh fried corn, Milho Frito.
This is almost a repeat of my previous review - no apologies.
Went for Sunday lunch with local Madeiran friends. Heaving again, packed with locals but good service.
Madeiran steak excellent with lots to accompany it. The milho (fried corn) still the best I've had on the island.
They kindly repeated the vegan bake for my wife and again half was taken home for dinner the next day.
The staff were attentive and friendly throughout and the cost was very reasonable.
Highly recommended.

Lovely little coffee bar, beautiful sunsets. We have Djs every Saturday. Located in Estreito da Calheta, next to the church. Cheap drinks, nice wine selection.
We were in a hotel close to the cafe and enjoyed every evening the sun. The cafe offers thuna Sandwich which were the best I tried in Madeira (-compared with 4 other). Coffee and beer was fine as well

We drove 20 minutes to Pizzeria Valentina for dinner because we had a taste for Pizza and we were not disapointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pizza was delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant was very, very clean. We will certainly go here again on our next visit to Madeira.
