we ate at Setos and did not like the food or service. the grease or oil they used taste burnt and everything else was way over cooked and dry. we kept getting reminded that because we weren't from there, this is the way its done. absolutely no friendly service here unless you are a local. we would never go back

The Fire Chefs have recently bought the Old Captain Hardy's Restaurant and have completely renovated the interior. We wanted the interior of the restaurant to reflect our commitment of bring about great colorful fusion cuisine heavily borrowing on France and Japan's attention to the culinary arts. Our two chefs bake fresh pastries daily. They buy their prized fish off the Haste (a local fisherman) and prepare a light yet crunchy fish batter. We produce fresh homemade soups and chowders, sushi, breads, muffins, cookies, pasta, Prime Rib Hamburgers, Caprese Salatas, Calamari with homemade tsaziki. We are new and we offer refined gourmet food and affordable family pricing. Try us.. We believe you will enjoy your experience!
Music was very loud. Food was presented beautifully but not very good. Denny's-like atmosphere. Place was clean, though.

We stayed at the adjoining hotel and had breakfast and dinner at the pub. While the menu isn't huge, the quality of the food was good. At dinner, they did seem to run out of things quickly, but we made do. The servers were helpful and friendly.

Port Hardy has limited dining options. This relatively unattractive looking restaurant sits across from the bay where it is not uncommon to see soaring eagles.
The sushi was surprisingly good. Large number of choices. Fresh fish and friendly service.
After dinner take a walk along the bay. There are lots of little signs along the walk that explain what you see in the bay. Lovely for a summer night. And, of course, the eagles ... glorious.
Worth the drive if you are staying in Port McNeil as this sushi is a lot better than that available at Harbor House.

I ate breakfast here and got the hungry fisherman to share. So much food, 2 people couldn't finish it. You get eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon, toast, pancakes. And large sizes of all of it. And all of it was good. Everything had a good taste. The pancakes are large and 1 is enough for 1 person. Seemed to me the best breakfast you could get is this little town.

Excellent coffee. Everything homemade. Outstanding ooey, gooey, caramel-dripping Pecan Buns. Best ever! Great book store and gift store also on premises. Perfect for a coffee place.

Prices were reasonable for where we are on north island.
No airconditioning it was warm inside. Girl taking our order was polite and did a good job explaining the meals on the order board.
Ordered meat lovers pizza and two chicken wraps
They were busy with take outs from locals, food arrived promptly in about 25 minutes and looked great!
Food was very good, and we would recommend stopping here.

Menus in Port Hardy aren't very adventurous. Fish and chips, burgers, pasta - that's what you get at every place in town. Kudos to the proprietors here who have brought some tasty Greek and Indian dishes to town in addition to the standard fare. It's also one of the few places to offer Sunday breakfast.
