Pirna (Upper Sorbian: Pěrno) is a town in the Free State of Saxony, Germany, capital of the administrative district Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge. The town's population is over 37,000. Pirna is located near Dresden and is an important district town as well as a Große Kreisstadt. It is also known for the gassing of about 15,000 disabled people in Sonnenstein Castle between June 1940 and August 1941, killings which ceased after pressure was exerted on the authorities by the local population. Today, a small plaque at the base of Sonnenstein Castle and the Sonnenstein Memorial remembers the dead.

Central location - just off the Markt. Good menu. Friendly and efficient staff. Service was fairly quick even though the restaurant was busy. Good atmosphere with the back courtyard the best place on a warm evening. Prices are reasonable. Well worth a visit.

Terrible experience.
I was looking for a restaurant and I decided to try this place. I entered the restaurant and I asked if a table was available, but a very rude waitress without stopping told me "full", and left immediately. I tried to ask for more information, like if a table was available in half an hour, but the waitress ignored me completely without even answering.
I never experienced a such rude service before, so my recommendation, according to my personal experience, is to avoid this place and choose something else in town.

I've been to this lovely Greek restaurant a few times now over the past 6 mths and it's always packed with people enjoying the authentic menu. They always start the meal off with a shot of Ouzo and usually follow the meal with one too! I love Souvlaki myself and Korfu never disappoints. We always start with garlic bread, but I really enjoyed the Spanakopiakia starter I had last time. Definitely try a combo grill plat, the Metaxa sauce is delicious! I'm sure they will get tired of seeing me but I just can't get enough :)

It is a shame how getting to the public money to eliminate the flood damage in the region. Here in Pirna the market square and the City Centre looks after 7 months, as if the flooding of the Elbe is just drained. The impression of this now renovated restaurant is even more surprising: all renewed, friendly service and outstanding cuisine. We have enjoyed with our Australian guest the roast of deer and wild boar dishes!
We have made our tour of the city after the good meal and admired the many construction sites. There is hope that the picturesque town of Pirna, will be a magnet for tourists in the summer.

Who is on the way to Saxon Switzerland, comes at the Brauhaus Pirna "Zum Giesser" barely passing. For years, the brewery has been firmly established in the region. Take a seat near the great brewing kettle and enjoy a homely atmosphere, the good food and delicious, home-brewed beer.
The company I was visiting took me here for lunch last week - the food is excellent - both quality and value. It makes a change to have food prepared fresh, rather than prepared, frozen and reheated. Even if it does take a little longer.
I only wish I had a reason to go back and try the wide range of beers!
The outside has a big play area for children, and the bar has plenty of Seating upstairs and downstairs.

After a lovely bike ride along the banks of the Elbe on a cold but sunny Sunday, we happened across this lovely restaurant. I had a goose leg with red cabbage and dumpling, my friend enjoyed the roast beef with sweet potato fries. The food was excellent. To accompany the meal we each had a glass of Hacker-Pschorr weissbier. It was a very nice beer for lunchtime, maybe the best. Service was good. I will bring my family here next time.

Genusswerk offers a very interesting, formal, à la carte menu. The decor is modern French and the service is very good. We enjoyed a range of starters, a good entre selection and excellent main courses. The waitresses were very friendly and efficient, and greatly assisted us with translating the menu from German. The food was very fresh and the flavour combinations modern and vibrant. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Cost was about €30 per head for two courses with drinks which we all agreed represented excellent value.

Burger and beer on the market 4 - home-brewed beer , homemade burgers, salads , cakes and desserts made from local ingredients in the old town of Pirna
Arrived here on a busy Sunday afternoon but the waitress couldn't have been more patient and helpful (I don't think they have an English menu). She made things (not on the menu) especially for my children. I recommend their excellent homemade fries, especially the sweet potato fries. Great views over the square too, so all in all a really nice place for a relaxing meal.

This restaurant is often full and that has a reason. They have tasty pastas and pizzas for a good price, and a nice Terrace. The soft drinks were served in bottles and on each table stood a basil plant that could be picked to use on the dishes.
The service was attentive at first, but later we had to request three times for a glass of wine. This can be regulated better.
