We came to the cafe before we entered the Botanical Gardens which is just down the road from this cafe, approximately 2 mins walk.
We ordered various beverages. My 4 year old daughter enjoyed a tall vanilla milkshake.
We ordered sweet and savoury crepes but would say that these were average, however the cheesecake and chocolate cake were divine.
This cafe has lovely Gardens surrounding it and it is clean and relaxing.
Recommend it for a nice piece of cake and tea either before or after a visit to the Botanical Gardens.

Le Fangourin lies in a delightful setting, tucked away in the midst of the Beau Plan Estate, with magnificent views from its veranda across lush, tropical countryside leading in the distance to Pieter Both Mountain. The cuisine is refined and incorporates island flavours in dishes such as mille-feuille of locally smoked marlin, king prawns roasted in sweet spices, Le Fangourin special 'gourmand' salad... There are also some delicious house-made desserts featuring the famous special sugars, including dark chocolate fondant with molasses, crème brûlée enlivened with fresh vanilla pod or a variety of 3 sorbets.
The food is great. Definetely perfect for tourists that would like to try creole food. The creole sausage rougaille and the dry deer curry were to die for.
In summer, I would recommend to book in advance and ask for a table inside as it gets really hot unless you don't mind the humidity.

And for the delight taste buds, the desserts are not to be outdone Bananas " zanzli " Roasted Toffee sauce or crème brûlée with vanilla of Labourdonnais are among the various sweet and delicate flavours .
The menu looked amazing and the setting of a restaurant in front of the beautiful colonial building all lead me to think that this was going to be a fantastic experience.
The prices (which were steep) also made me think that this was going to be a special meal which would stand out from the rest.
Despite a very dedicated level of service the food itself was disappointing. The Angus steak was well cooked but lacked any particular taste which made it stand out from any other piece of meat. The sauce was also inexistant. Accompanying the steak were a couple of lonely pieces of vegetables which were undercooked and bland. Not what I expected at a high class restaurant in Mauritius.
I also took the risk of the signature chocolate gateau. Drowned in chocolate sauce which made the ingredients indistinguishable. Not a good choice.
I’m afraid that although I may go back to see the chateau and the grounds, it won’t be to eat there.

My friend and I have been at this cafe a couple of times and it has been a delightful experience each time we've been there..
We've tried both penne and tagliatelle with pesto sauce and penne with creamy tomato sauce and chicken and the food is just marvellous as always.. All the desserts we've tried there(some of them were pre-ordered) are simply delicious...
The staff is very cordial and the service is impeccable...
Thank you, Cafe 18, for the great moments I've had there!:-)

We found this little restaurant, Le Paradis Epice, not far from the enterance to the famous Pamplemousses Gardens and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and the service provided. The restaurant had a charming atmosphere and was very neat and clean. The road to Grand Baie passes the door so if you are in the vicinity do drop in and taste their curries etc.

This place was supposedly traditional Creole food that the locals ate according to the taxi driver who recommended it. Although he later admitted that he'd never been there before. Another place where he was on a jolly good commission, or his brother probably owned the place. The owner insisted on Reading the entire menu to us. The waitress was nice & explained what everything was & told us to eat the lot. She must've known they'd got the special expensive menu out just to rip the silly people off on holiday. Just as I thought we were managing quite well the owner came over & tried to tell us how to eat our food. First course good, second, half & half, main course YUK! Very salty curry. This was something that I'd probably reject at home & chuck it in the bin before anyone got to taste it. Finally we got our coconut ice cream & I said that I wouldn't eat mine but my husband could have it. The manager tried to take it away at that point, when I managed to wrestle it off him he insisted that I eat it. I tried it & was surprised to find that it was quite nice. We were the only people there & no wonder the bill came to over £40! I didn't leave a tip.

We always love to eat at local places rather than standard tourist fare and being Chinese, this was really a no brainier when choosing food.
Amazing fresh noodles with chicken and dumplings on top with a choice of home made condiments. Cost about £1.60 a bowl only.
Cannot recommend highly enough. Can either eat in or takeaway. The large queue of locals waiting in line for food is testament to its popularity. Not to be missed

Only tourists filled this restaurant and most dropped off by taxis that had been hired for the day. The food is not bad, and the service friendly. It is located in the Grand Baie area

This restaurant was featured in Islander Magazine, the in-flight magazine of Air Mauritius. The restaurant looked so special that we decided to try it our first night on the island. It was fantastic. The owners Rajen and wife Assia were over the top friendly. My wife had the lamb curry and I had the best lobster I have ever tasted. We went in the evening, so we unfortunately missed out on the incredible views looking out over the island.
One recommendation - do not try to find this place without a GPS. It is way off the beaten path, but that is one of the things that make it so special.

Epicurien, do not hesitate, it's THE restaurant not to be missed in Grand Bay!
Red is quite extraordinary and progressive. The head chef and owner clearly loves his craft and this is the essence of the quality and attention to detail which presents itself in the carefully designed dishes. I can honestly say that this one of the best...MoreDear TheBestOfMauritius, A huge thank you for your visit and your very nice review about us.
