The Restaurant GROF - since 1901 It all began in the vicinity of Ceplje in 1901 by the Vransko - Sempeter road, when Johan Gorican opened his first winery. Excellent fruit and wine grower Johan was the attendant of the manor Stopnik and he was married to Neza (born Brinovec) who used to be a cook in the manor Hachenberg. They both respected the human values and people, which was important for a successful company. They had improved their vision until 1936 when their nephew Franz Brinovec and his wife Pavla Rome took over the restaurant. They ran it until 1953 and back then they probably did not even imagine that the road, by which their inn was standing, would have a fatal influence upon it... When they started building the road the house was knocked down. The restaurant was moved to another location and was opened again in 1968. It was in service until 2000 when it was closed again because a motorway was being built. In 2011 it was the 110th anniversary since Johan Gorican opened his own winery. Horse yokes, carriages and horses have been replaced by cars and busses. Numerous visitors have walked through our door. Time brings changes, and from the first day, when people were paying with Guldens until today when we are paying with Euros, also nutrition habits have been changed. Despite different times and changed habits the regional Mission of the inn Grof has been preserved. Our main principles are offer of high quality and satisfied guests. Welcome to the world of gastronomic pleasures. CUISINE A long-time tradition has strongly influenced the restaurant's offer though it has changed a lot in a hundred years. In spite of that Neza's recipes have been revived from the time when she prepared her dishes for the gentry at the manor Hachenberg, and we keep our offer on the traditional level which has come from our surroundings. We can assure that we are loyal to this tradition and gladly carry on the work of our ancestors. At the same time we are aware that contemporary lifestyle and pulse unintentionally impose different eating habits. We shall satisfy this with a wide range of Italian cuisine, pasta and inevitable offer of pizzas. LOCATION AND INTERIOR The restaurant Grof has been standing by the road since 1901. It is true that the location has been changing over a hundred years of its existence but the location "by the road" marks the inn even today. The easiest way to find it is to drive on the A1 motorway between Ljubljana and Maribor and take the exit Vransko. Drive along the regional road Nr 447 in direction Celje. Take the second exit on the roundabout and you arrive at the car park of the inn, which offers 130 park spaces. The inn Grof is situated less than 200 meters from the motorway. There is space for 300 guests on the ground floor along with a large open Terrace for around a hundred guests. On the first floor there is a small lecture room in which 40 people can sit comfortably, and a special room for 50 guests. There is a children's playroom for the young and there is a possibility of organizing children's parties.
Excellent restaurant, really good food, polite employes, fast service, great kids playroom. And the overall furniture is just exquisite! We’ll come back for sure

After hiking beautiful mountain Olševa, we decided to eat here and we were very satisfied. Ordered noodles with porcini and vegetable lasagna in mushroom sauce. Very tasty noodles, excellent lasagna with a lot of cheese :-) Salad bar with many choises. Quiet atmosfere, acceptable prices.
We will definitely come back again.

Lucifer is this decadent Chocolate focused cafe. You can almost feel the sinful, sensual Chocolate dreams as you enter. The decor is amazing, it has a 1920's vibe to it, you almost feel like you entered another time era altogether.
The Hot chocolate is to die for!
Everyone should try it at least once!

Our family discovered it by chance. But what a surprise.
A very innovative approach to traditional dishes. Great desserts.
Perfect service.
Even if one can spot that the restaurant has been there for a long time.
The interior is updated and well maintained.
Surely recommend it ad we are sure to return as well.

This is family buisniess with a sense. We are near Rimska Nekropola and cave Pekel. Highway exit Sempeter and 15km from city Celje.
Went back from Logarska dolina and I looked at TripAdvisor where and what to eat on the way back home. This steakhouse came out as result and it was worth it. Pizza good, hamburger excellent, big room as a playground for children top. They serve local beer which is really good and you should try it if you like beer.
I want especially say thanks to waiter she is extremely helpfully and nice.
Because I'm driving electric car I only missed some charging point somewhere in this little town.
Absolutely recommend this place.

I went for a fixed menu Sunday lunch, and was more than pleasantly surprised.
The restaurant is in a 13th century castle, recently and fully reconstructed.
It is in Polzela, just a few kilometers of the Ljubljana-Maribor-Graz highway.
There is ample parking just next to the venue.
The ambient is fine, divided into several halls, well furnished with good taste.
The plate and cutlery are satisfactory.
The fixed menu consisted of mushroom soup, pork in a fine sauce, Turkey Wiener style schnitzel, roasted potatoes, a fluffy vegetable souffle and strukli.
All was followed by a fine strawberry cream cake, the cream was fresh and with real strawberries.
The house wine suited the meal.
The service was fast, precise, non obtrusive friendly and efficient.
The whole meal, which deserves only the highest marks, costs 10 €, and the house wine is 1 euro per glass.
The a la carte menu is balanced and offers some very interesting plates, meat, fish and venison.
In conclusion, I can say that I had one very fine meal, certainly I shall go again and take a guest with me.
I can only highly recommend this restaurant in all aspects.

Two amazing foods, Pizza and steak. Those are the feature items here! I didn't know what to expect going in but wow i was amazed. The intense flavours on the steak is just mind blowing! the potatoes were done to perfection as well.
Cant wait to go back!
As is normal in Slovenia there are not a lot of wait staff so dont be disappointed if you are not served straight away but the food comes rather fast!

The restaurant is near the road, but you do not hear noise. If you eat on the Terrace you are a few meters from river Savinja. The food is good. Aloo soups are good, specially onion soup. You can eat a lot of different kind of meat. The location is good for celebrations.
The restaurant offers voleyball, kayaks, swimming in the river Savinja, sauna...

From the outside, it looks like a random roadside pub, but once you enter the Zmajeva votlina (translation would be Dragon's cave), you will most definitely be surprised. Colorful paintings are only one of the reason to visit it more than just once (for sure). I love the atmosphere, but more important - the burgers. Zmajeva votlina is offering them since the beginning of summer 2015, in the offer you can find burgers, such as Hawai burger, BBQ burger, steak burger etc. To conclude - must visit while visiting Upper Savinja Valley.
