Set on two floors and in an idyllic palm tree and twinkly light filled courtyard, the Bakehouse has been a part of the local community for the past 15 years. New owners Kim Letchford and Gary Francis took over on the 14th February 2017. Kim started working here over 8 years ago, when she did her work experience for school. She went on to study catering at the local college for 3 years and worked at the Bakehouse for most of that time as a chef, taking time out to work abroad. Gary for the past 6 years has been the sous chef at The very well known gastro pub The Victoria Inn, in Perranuthnoe. They are both very enthusiastic and innovative creating new and exciting dishes for their guests. They look forward to welcoming you to their restaurant to enjoy good food in a friendly modern restaurant.
Found this place on a wet night on our way to the Scillies... it was empty and pretty dark.. but open and Wow what a treat... really friendly, made us welcome and relaxed. The food was really good from start to finish - and the house wine a real treat.. unbelievable... wish we had more time... It's a great spot and worth seeking out in its hidden alleyway...

Came here for a small family get together as was given vouchers for a 3 course lunch.
The food was delicious and despite the small menu, it was varied enough. The confit duck was a hit and so was the Toulouse Saussure cassoulet. Our starts we’re also delicious. The fries and potatoes with caramelised onions were superb!
For dessert, the croissant bread and butter pudding was sweet but delicious and the cheeses were lovely!
The service was excellent and the view out to the sea was a beautiful setting.
I would recommend!

We had lunch here while visiting this delightful little Cornish village. I’d read reviews and recommendations of the restaurant - all of them favourable. Everything is great in this pretty restaurant and it was very busy with tourists when we arrived. The staff are young, friendly and super efficient handling the late morning tea and early lunch crowd superbly. We both enjoyed our lunch choices very much - mine was a twice baked crab and Parmesan soufflé and my husband declared his crab and chilli linguine some of the best food he’s had so far in Cornwall. Thoroughly recommend if you’re down Mousehole way in Cornwall

Just off town centre in Penzance, 28-cover café/restaurant serving wide range of high-quality coffees, cakes, salads, soups and 'World Food'. Using local and seasonal ingredients where possible, the specials board offers vegetarian and vegan options, as well as a wide range of gluten-free dishes. Light and airy with an eclectic menu and décor, furnished with antique tables and chairs and cosy cushions and a sofa.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Dated from outside, nice on inside
FOOD
They have a board of food but also an actual menu which can be missed if you're not given one or looking for it.
I had a cheese scone with red onion chutney and earl grey tea. It was very tasty.
My friends had the soup with garlic bread which smelt really good.
OVERALL
I'd definitely come back here again

Stayed here from 5/5/17 until 10/5/17 whilst attending a painting course at Newlyn school of art only 5 mins away, less even. The Smugglers is a lovely place to stay. Barbara couldnt do enough for me and her husband is a great chef, the breakfast would last all day, id recommend the cheese omelette. Room was always spotless, plenty clean towels, hot water, tea, coffee and biscuits. My room was at the back via a quiet private courtyard, just what i needed after a busy day at the studio.I intend to return here next year and will certainly stay in the Smugglers.

my wife and myself had dinner here and enjoyed it immensely ,the food was good, service superb and the wine was reasonably priced, what more could you want.
The waitress and the owner were friendly and chatted when they had time and the decor is typically Thai. Highly recommended.

This ice cream is always excellent and I would highly recommend it. The flavour and texture is good.
The only reason I give it four stars and not five is the attitude of the elder lady who works there. We went at a busy time and her manner was very abrupt and sullen. No smile, please or thank you.
Manners cost nothing.

This place was recommended by the person I was staying with and my stop to have coffee in the day augured well for an evening visit. Staff are easy going and friendly and the local food was well made, generous and delicious with a good and varied selection.
