A charming restaurant high above the Rhone valley with superb food and delightful service. A small but perfectly presented and delivered menu. Try the Pintade roti stuffed with foods gras. Or market ish of the day - sole on the day I was there. Very good value and interesting wines by the glass or bottle. But beware the winding drive down the mountain.

Nomen est omen: Restaurant du Theatre is located...at the theatre, just a few steps from Monthey-Ville railway stop.
My lunch was truly close to perfection - driven both by excellent food and great staff.
Thumbs-up for the unobstrusive and professional service. Even chef Mauro helped with the service, explaining the ingredients of each dish - a much appreciated gesture.
The a-la-carte choices proved excellent but are admittedly not for the budget-conscious. As starter I had "plins" (kind of small ravioli) stuffed with boar meat and garnished with local Chablais truffles - quite delicate and tasty. As main course the veal fillet was tender and cooked to perfection; it was served with chanterelles and diverse vegetables. Unreasonably I also indulged in a dessert: the chocolate moist cake was tasty and well-worth the 20-minute preparation time.
Amounting to CHF109 the bill was definitely on the expensive side - as often in Switzerland. However the high quality food and service are well worth it.

Don't be fooled by the menu for 2 because the price shown there is per person and it's not obvious to a north American like me that it's the case... We thought we were getting a good deal but...nope. Food is okay, overly salty, portions are decent but the taste is just ok. Kinda sounds like stuff was reheated...

We have eaten here before and accept that it is a bit more expensive. The food is very well executed. Great foie-gras, seafood and pasta dishes. A very attentive waitress disappeared altogether when the restaurant started filling up on a Saturday night. We were left for 40 mins after the main course with some dishes still left on the table, no dessert menu/coffee offered or even a glance in our direction. Only when we all stood up with our coats on did we finally get noticed. Shame. You would think that the establishment would have predicted that it gets busy on a Saturday night.

Since our first visit we have been regularly returning to the small, family restaurant. The food is delicious, the menu is various and the service is just what you need. A bit expensive though and should be reserved in advance. I would suggest as much as to couples, families, group of friends and business occasions.

Cadre chaleureux, Super accueil et de bons conseils pour le vin. On a choisi le menu de dégustation chasse. Le service était top et le patron nous a offert le café !
Très bon rapport qualité-prix !

Restaurant and coffee Traditional and native cuisine from the cellar to the kitchen. Specialties: Fondue Diligence (cheese fondue with whipped cream and fresh herbs, easier to digest), La Treillarde (new fondue with Hérens meat, well kept secret) and its cellar where you make yourself at home, you will directly choose your elixir there. Welcome home
I have been eating at this restaurant for the last 20 years. They make the best cheese fondue. They also serve raclette on certain evenings. They have great local cuisine - viande sechee, rotisserie, steak tartare, etc.

While staying at the Hotel Whitepod (a one of a kind and fantastic trip), we ate many times at the Les Ceniers. The Swiss/French restaurant has a very cozy and romantic ambience complete with a roaring fire and incredible views. The chef is amazing. Each night we were treated to unique and delightful appetizers that he had created. Every meal was perfect, satisfying and delicious. The fondue was absolutely fantastic. They served us the MOST hevenly cheeseburgers we have ever had – I want to travel back to Switzerland just for those burgers. Our young daughters (who tend to be picky eaters) loved dining here. The restaurant bakes their breads daily, even the hamburger buns. All their meals are prepared with local farm fresh meats and vegetables. It was wonderful how they were able to provide even the most simple item with a sophisticated and gourmet twist. Desert was fantastic, we tried almost everything they had and loved all of them. The poached pears were especially good. The girls loved the homemade ice-cream. Everything is fresh, fresh, fresh!

Would have loved to order a la carte or even possibly dine in. Yet was clearly a take out only place. If you order in advance you can get exactly what you want. Yet, being limited to the pre-made packages didn't feel very inspiring. Lighting was dull and ambience inside not very inviting. Taste was ok.
