Located in a former distillery and inserted into the surrounding space of the Quinta da Pena, in Vila Caiz - Amarante, the "Pena - Restaurant & Bar" results from the rehabilitation of a historic space with a contemporary language. In a familiar environment, the space is divided between the living room set in the very mill, the bar-cellar suitable for a winter afternoon by the fireplace and a large Terrace that invites you to taste the house cocktails or dinner on the patio and under a candlelight on the hot summer nights. The gastronomy of the house will take you to the flavors so characteristic of our region, coupled with its outstanding creativity. In a refined place in its rusticity, the customer finds the flavors of the house and the region and also enjoys the tranquility reflected by the surrounding space consisting of the manor house and its Gardens, the woods and several secular acre farms. More than just a meal, we want you to live a unique moment. Make yourself at home ...
It can be a bit tedious getting to the place with GPS guiding the way that might lead to those little and weird passages. Anyway, this place is really a special one. The house is beautiful and well decorated. The owner surely has exceptional taste. People are nice. Food was excellent. Had beef Wellington and octopus and they were just delicious. Love this place.

This restaurant is where you must go if you want real Portuguese food in a beautiful setting! It can be tricky to find you just have to keep heading for the Hippocentre. No hippos, just horses. If you get to a dirt track road then you are going in the right direction. When you arrive the view is magnificent! The welcome is very friendly and you can get stuck into the starters. Alheira (chicken sausage), onion with red wine and fabulous ham! You must drink your wine from a mug, that's the best! Main courses were succulent roast lamb and lovely fresh Bacalhau! For desert we had Leite Creme and then tried the local liquor and Agua Dente ( firewater) which were fantastic! What a great day! If you want to really eat Portuguese style, then make a visit to this lovely Tasquina!

We just came back from eating here ..I had arroz de marisco (seafood rice) and my husband had a codfish platter(bacalhau) ..both platter were enough for 2 people to eat from ..also be aware that the appetizers they put on the table (codfish cakes, crab claw cakes, olives) if you eat them you pay for them..a lot of people think they are free because they just bring them without u ordering them..If your looking to have a large party (wedding, communion ,etc. ) they have large banquet area (there was a wedding there when we went). they also offer take-out.

Capacity: 120 People Tongobriga Restaurant.Bar is surrounded by a wonderful natural area and of great archaeological value (National Archaeological Monument), offering a discovery of flavors, made with quality ingredients, combining simplicity and elegance.
We had a lovely dining experience here. Flavourful, fresh dishes of high quality and superb wine. Good price/quality ratio. The interior is wonderful, in modern style, which is very rare in this area.
Staff who are charming, helpful and friendly. The (son of the) owner of the place was incredibly helpful and took time to explain the menu in detail, and he gave us a bunch of useful tips about the surroundings.
On the other side of the (really calm) road there is an interesting archeological site, which is worth visiting.

We have eaten here on several occasions and always found the staff to be very helpful. We arrived on a Friday night and asked for a table for 9 outside. This wasn't an issue and we were seated in 3-4 mins. The food was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their choice and came away satisfied. Easy parking, by the river. No complaints. Note in can get very busy at times.

Small but nice pizzeria - difficult to find as located in the basement underneath a dental clinic. But the search is worth it. The host has worked for several years in Italy and has created some pizzas according to his experience. Try it out!
Very nice and friendly atmosphere with a host also finding time for talking and explanation of the various ingredients. We have been there 3 times and enjoyed it every time.

I used trip advisor to find this little gem. We popped in for lunch whilst in Marco de Cannaves. Very traditional Portuguese food at a reasonable price. A very good wine list too. I had pork and my Portuguese wife had cod of course. Both meals were perfect. Service was from really friendly staff. Will visit again next time I'm in the area.

Although the people were very friendly it was a bit of a challenge to order our food because they didn't speak English. The food itself and the starters were good. Also the wine was fine. Sitting outside was no problem because we made the reservation earlier that day.

OK. The waiters can be symphatic but it wasnt a good experience. With the restaurant half full the waiting time was a disaster. Almost 10 minutes, in a small place to someone came to us to give us a table. The food isnt the best. Not a fan.

Stopped en-route to Porto solo on motorcycle, just caught restaurant out the corner of my eye past junction on N108. Only one car in car park but hungry so stopped - had left Braganca very early and feeling peckish! Little Portuguese (me) and no English (her - lovely lady) but with other customer help I placed an order. 15 minutes later, pork chops, roast potatoes, rice, salad, 1/2 litre red wine, bread and water later I was really enjoying the food, ambience and views over the Douro Valley sat on the patio this sunny lunchtime. Noticed that the restaurant inside was quite large and plush, small bar / tables adjacent and toilets were good. No room for pudding, I thought the meal worth Euro 30 but expected to be charged around Euro 20 - cost was Euro 9.10 (£6.00) - I was stunned, remonstrated that something must have been left off bill, but no. I left Euro 20 -fully satisfied and very happy I stopped, also very nice to see the pleased reaction when I left the tip - excellent, recommended, go!
