Ducks Restaurant is an intimate two AA Rosette fine dining restaurant with a long history originating in Edinburgh’s New Town, with just ten tables it is one of the best in East Lothian. It has an A la Care Menu and two tasting menus one of which is vegetarian. Ducks restaurant is open WEDNSAY to SUNDAY, November to end February. March to October it is open Wednesday to Saturday
Had dinner on Friday night. Good service. Tasty food. Small portions. Quite expensive for what we ate. You really would need 3 courses to make you feel full. Didn't like eating my supper with 3 TVs from every angle but then sports fans would probably love it.

We visited here for lunch recently. The Inn has a cosy bar with real fire, and a restaurant. We ate in the bar as there were quite a few people dining and the atmosphere was nice and buzzy. The menu contains a good selection of dishes, and everything we chose was nicely cooked and tasted delicious. The staff were very friendly and did not rush the service. Worth a visit.

Went as a party of 16, so the atmosphere was always going to be good. The menu was extensive, the food and service was excellent and I would heartily recommend it.
By contrast, we went to the Greywalls restaurant the following evening and the general consensus was that La Potiniere won hands down!!

Recommended highly by a friend and was not disappointed. The bar was dog friendly and we were treated to a lovely plate of food, big portions too! Bar and waiting staff were very friendly and attentive. Great to see The Findlay’s running the place like old times, will be back!

In addition to 23 comfy bedrooms The Bar at Ducks Inn is a superb, relaxed eating place. All the food is sourced locally and produced on the premises by Chef Mozdzen and his team. The menu changes with the seasons. Just 40 minutes down the coast from Edinburgh and its airport, Ducks Inn nestles in the sleepy village of Aberlady . Ducks Inn has one of Scotland's top whisky bars housing around one hundred malt whiskies including a collection from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society of which Ducks Inn is a Home from Home partner bar. The wine list is one of the finest in Scotland and complements the outstanding menu in Ducks Restaurant. The Bar is very traditional, filled with golfing memorabilia and bar putting games. Real Ales are also a feature and Doombar is a regular with two guest beers rotating regularly. The Bar at Ducks Inn also features a large humidor filled with Cubans. You will always find a fond welcome when you Duck Inn to The Bar at Ducks Inn!

Based on TripAdvisor reviews, we popped in for a coffee...but quickly wished we needed more. The cakes, sandwiches and ice creams look tremendous.
I don't know Germany too well, with 6 or 7 business trips to the Hannover / Celle area under my belt; this just reminded me of the foods on offer at the Saturday market - very authentic and appealing.
Along with a tea and coffee, we shared a warm apple strudel and enjoyed it very much.
Maybe we'll try to find time for a lunchtime visit next...

The Old Clubhouse is situated in central Gullane, overlooking the locally famed links course. Built in 1890, this attractive half-timbered venue was originally intended to be a meeting place for Gullanes golfers, and though the club soon outgrew it, The Old Clubhouse remains popular with those fresh off the greens and maintains the exclusive ambience of a members club, with its reputation for fine food and warm welcome spreading far beyond the town itself. Unsurprisingly, a strong golfing theme is seen throughout the bar, with plenty of old photographs of the course and the club as well as quirky memorabilia dotted around the space, cosy club chairs and deep banquettes providing comfortable Seating, encouraging you to stay and relax beyond your meal. Drawing on local produce, The Old Clubhouses menu is eclectic and inspiring, particularly known for its steaks and fish, the central offerings of the mainly pub-food-with-a-twist collection of dishes. The wine list is as well considered as the food offerings, and The Old Clubhouse has recently become known for homemade ice creams and sorbets, the ideal treat after a hard morning of stick and ball.
Cannot rate this place enough. As a regular visitor to Scotland, this pub is one of the highlights of my visits. Fabulous traditional food. The Haggis, Neeps and Tatties are a must and the best Cullen Skink ever! Staff are always friendly and the service is second to none. For anyone who wants to sample true Scottish hospitality this is the place to come

This may not look too encouraging; opposite a station just near a roundabout and roadworks on the main road. But the queues out the door are a good clue. Go inside and you find a very attractive owner and 5 or six very attractive girls all working their socks off in what may very well be the world's best Sandwich store. Actually , if you are on the way to one of the 10 golf courses between here and Gullane this is the perfect place to stop for your (very substantial) snacks. How does a place earn the title of 'World's Best"? Well , for a start there are about 30 mixes you can choose from. I went with Curried Chicken and Mango and added assorted salad (including fresh beetroot!) on cracked wheat bread for a perfect picnic Sandwich. Our picnic was on one of the 4 or 5 great windswept Beaches nearby. The Filling Station do lots of fairly solid home baking as well. They leave free samples on the counter to tempt you. I had an Apple Cinamon 'Rock' cake as well. All in all, well worthy of the detour. Suggestions? Would have loved a Scotch Egg or a fresh Sausage Roll as well!
Missed our train into the city so killed a little time and visited here. And omg the best baguette ive had in my life. It was mystic chicken or something. But tasted so good can you up sticks and relicate to kings lynn norfolk.

Went for a family birthday meal, had not been for a while and had heard mixed reviews about it after booking. Was extremely busy when we arrived, good sign. Shown to a table in a nice room, decor good. Was a bit worried that it was off the main restaurant and we might be forgotten. We arrived 1st and had to go through to the bar to order our own drinks, no big deal and the other tables quickly filled up, and more staff arrived.
Gluten free menu, always a plus. Not a massive selection for the celiac, a lot of the main menu was deep fried in batter - menu’s ok but I thought expensive for what it was. Staff very friendly, all very young looked like school kids working part time (was a Sunday dinner) didn’t look like any body senior was keeping an eye on things, and they’re lack of experience showed -food order taken, food brought to table, glasses not cleared, and nobody came to check if the food was ok, did we need more drinks, we had a pile of around 10 empty glasses in the table and they just seemed not to notice!? Would normally just take some back ourselves - we are not that precious- honest, but there was not an open bar, or anywhere obvious in the room we were in to take them too!? Went up to pay the bill, didn’t ask what table I was from and was presented with a bill. was given the wrong bill (much cheaper than ours - but because I’m honest I pointed it out and paid the correct amount!).
So, was ok, seemed like the service was lacking a bit due to inexperience and that’s fine we’ve all had new jobs, but mix up your junior and senior staff so the young guys can learn. Menu ok, a bit overpriced for a lot of deep fried food in batter - oh and they managed to burn the nachos! Looks like that day they might have been just too busy to offer the service and quality other people have mentioned. I don’t think we’ll be back in a hurry.

Great fish and chips, steak pie, homemade beef burgers, seafood chowder and prime Scottish Steaks feature regularly on the menu. Depending on the season we add specialities such as mussels, lobster, langoustines a variety of fresh fish and game.
We had an evening meal here because our other local accommodation had no kitchen or bar service. David the new owner /manager could not have been more welcoming and our meal was very good and seemed reasonably priced. We wish him well with his plans for the place. It has real potential, it's dog friendly, customer friendly and the food could be excellent with a few menu tweaks that are planned. Hope to visit again soon as it has a real village pub feel.
