This restaurant had a great atmosphere and was nicely decorated.
We sat outdoors and positioned ourselves to enjoy the rising full moon.
We had snails in garlic & cheese, but were disappointed that it was neither appetizing looking nor tasty. I had fish and my friend lamb. He liked his food, but I found everything on my plate to have sugar. They seemed to be very generous with adding sugar to vegetables and sauces.
We shared one pudding flan, which had a good taste, but again was way too sweet.
We enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and found the service to be good, but were not thrilled by the food.
We probably will skip it next time when in Komatpoort.

We love what we do and do it with love. Black and white is our building, the old postmasters house in it's faded Victorian jeans and at night you cannot miss the coloured fairy lights. The sign in Rissik street at our entrance says :" CARPE DIEM Restaurant & Hacienda Lodge" and there you will find us waiting with food, smiles, accommodation and occasional live music. We are open every day of the week as well as Sundays and offer a versatile a-la-carte menu
A Very Very nice Restaurant and wonderful staff ,friendly ,helpful and honest people. We also stayed in the Lodge and only have good words to say about them always wanting to help you to the last as well as been friendly and polite. SO LEKKER.

We were seated and told it would be a 40 minute wait for food (as it is made freshly) in a nearly empty restaurant. The food took almost 40 minutes and was tasteless. I ordered a spaghetti bolognaise that was basically dry spaghetti topped with salty mince and plastic-y cheese. We also had to change our orders twice as they did not have items that were indicated on the menu. Wouldn't return.

Vonja's restaurant where you will find the finest cuisine, good wine and relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant offers organic foods with fresh, home-grown herbs and vegetables to ensure the finest dining Komatipoort can offer.
Vonja's belongs to the Ecolux Boutique Hotel and we used the Restaurant as Hotel guests for breakfast and several dinners. The food was always good though the prices for dinners are a bit high but far from overpriced. The meals always had a good quality and that was the important point for us.
Personnel is always friendly but could be a bit quicker on their feet.
We can definitely recommend the fish meals and the ribs. Chips could have been a larger portion and more crispy.
Overall one of the best restaurants in Komatipoort with a small potential to improve.

Antiek Sjiek in Hendrina, Mpumalanga, South Africa, is the most amazing place. An antique shop, gift shop, kids play area, restaurant and bar. The yard is filled with items, big & small, from times past. the "old" house is filled with antique accessories and i assure you will pick up a thing or two from the gift shop. Thee food is great and the kids had a great time playing and exploring. Weekend buffet is a must book event as it is fully booked. Well worth a detour if you are in Mpumalanga.

We were stuck at the South Africa/Mozambique border for a couple of hours due to a strike and we were famished when we arrived in Komatipoort. We had made an early start from Maputo and expected to have an early breakfast in Komatpoort, but it was already 10. So, we decided to go to a fast food joint hoping to get a quick and at least adequate breakfast.
It was good to see that they served breakfast all day. We ordered coffee first, but what we got was very weak creamy coffee. We asked for more coffee to strengthen the beverage. With more black coffee, it was drinkable, but not really that great. So, we had to deduct a star right there because strong coffee was important to us during breakfast. Then we ordered toasted ham, cheese & tomato whole wheat Sandwich and also a lamb & eggs breakfast. The former was with a side salad and the latter with a serving of French fries. Both orders were sumptuous.
Service was good & friendly and prices were also very fair.
So, we might come back here for breakfast sometime.

This is a good cafe to have breakfast or brunch in summer or the end of winter because it is the outdoor Seating that is nicer. The indoor is very cozy, but rather cramped with shelves of all sorts of art & craft and bakery stuff the are trying to sell.
The menu has a good variety including Banting diet food.
I had Banting style omelet and my friend regular South African breakfast with meat & sausages. They both were good.
Service was friendly and good.
We will be back.
