Typical Canarian food, speciality: excellent fresh grilled meets.
Every time I visit Tenerife I dine in this restaurant on multiple occasions.
mainly this is a fresh meat restaurant with a large selection of meats on display as you walk in and also serves local dishes like potage ,garvanzos, carne fiesta, all very reasonable price very good quality and perfect portions .
Even on very busy night the service and food is as perfect as a night when it is quite always very consistent like that.
The owner who is also the chef is a professional butcher and chooses only the best meats .
Staff are all very attentive and welcoming .
To give an example
2 x starter - large portion of grill cheese with local mojo and a dish of garvanzos.
2 x mains - steak in breadcrumbs with chips and salad and half chicken with chips and salad .
3x soft drinks 1x glass wine
1 x dessert
All less than €30 approx £25 so very good value
Highly recommend El Frenazo.
As always I will return every time I visit Tenerife .

We are staying at Garachico, but were looking for a typical spanish bar/restaurante where also the locals go for having their lunches and dinners and at a low price. Garachico is beautiful and definitely has some (very) good restaurants, but you will only find tourists there. We missed the spanish... So we headed to Icod and came accross this restaurant.
The menu is simple, but food has good quality and the prices are half of what you would pay in Garachico. Example: calamares 6 euro, papas arygadas 2 euro, glass of wine 1,50...
On friday night the place was packed with locals, in fact we were the only tourists.
Service is quick and friendly - if you know how to appreciate spanish directness :-).
We will definitely go back during our stay here.

Decor inside is great, as the restaurant has been there since 1950 and has lots of character. Also a great spot for sitting outside people watching - and you can hear the local children sliding down the hill on trays. Good, traditional food and wines, with more choice than a lot of restaurants we went to. It was open much later than other local restaurants.

We were there twice the first time food was excellent at the second visit it was mediocre. The waiters are friendly and attentive. At our first visit we had cheese dumplings, fried black pudding, rabbit with a spicy sauce (made with vinegar, oil, salt, pepper and water), entrecote with pepper, a bottle very good white wine, a big bottle water and two espresso for in total 55€. Food was great and filling. At our second visit we were not so happy. At this evening the had just a tapa menu (6 tapas for 15€) any other 2.50€. Some of the tapas were good some mediocre. However it was ok and we paid for 6 tapas, ine dessert, two big water and a bottle of fine wine 36€. Recommendet for a la carte menu.

Having read about this place to eat we booked in advance as there are only four tables. With our very limited knowledge of Spanish and the owners' lack of English we had fun communicating but started with an excellent avocado, tomato and goats cheese salad. This was followed by pork chop and chips and veal chop with potatoes cooked Canarian style. One frozen chocolate and orange pud followed. Our wine was drawn from the vats adjoining the small restaurant. The red was better than the white. The owners were very friendly, the meal was good but it was a trifle chilly as the room was open to the cool evening. No airs and graces and a lovely experience.

Found it by coincidence but worth visiting - nice range of ice creams (my fav - fig and pistachio flavours), decent espresso and everything at a good price EUR 6 for 2 large ice creams and espresso. Worth visiting!

Found this restaurant on way back to Puerto Del La Cruz after a full day out in a hire car. Stopped in Icod to see the Dragon Tree and this restaurant is about 5 min drive away. Really tasty Chinese food with top quality ingredients. All cooked very fresh and served piping hot by friendly staff. Crispy duck was superb. Service was spot on. Well recommended and dirt cheap compared to UK.
