Garachico is a municipality and town on the northern coast of Tenerife, about 52 km West of the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 50 km from Tenerife North Airport and 67 km from Tenerife South Airport. The town itself nestles below a 500m+ (1500 ft) cliff. Garachico and the surrounding area is arguably the least spoilt coastal area of Tenerife, and is in sharp contrast to areas such as Playa de las Americas. It is still very Spanish in character, and a Spanish phrasebook is advisable for non-Spanish speaking visitors.

Visited here from Puerto del la Cruz using local transport, and had coffee at the bar by the piscinas. Lovely place to sit and watch the waves crash over the rocks and rush up the various channels. It is a truly beautiful area, but as other people have said, you do have to be careful as you can get rogue (very large and unexpected) waves. We visited when the waves were fairly large anyway, even though it was a very calm day generally, so whilst being impressive i wouldn't have fancied my chances if I had fallen or got swept into the channels. Great for photography and a very pleasant village generally.

Walking around this small town and the alley opened out to this amazing square. So picturesque, so calming, so beautiful. We wandered around before we stopped for a coffee and for four Talkable people we were mesmerized by the beauty. So much hoping to return and stay overnight so we can take a much more of this town in.

Since there are not so many attractions in Garachico this is probably a place you also end up during your visit to this town. Small entrance fee, typical Canarian style building with inside patio (cypresses and grass) and wooden balconies.
A few exhibition rooms and conveniently connected city library at the same premises.
I like the facade of this building on top of the low stairs and palm trees growing in front of the monastery.

If you are English speaking then you may want to give this a miss as all the Info is written in spanish. It's a small castle but has a long and interesting history. Only a couple of euros to enter and will take about half an hour to look round.

Visiting this beautiful square was well worth the bus trip from Puerto DeLa Cruz. The whole square is full,of character with a lovely atmosphere and lots of historic buildings to meander round. There are tapas bars, public toilets and a cafe all in and around the square.

This church is worth a visit: dating back from the beginning of 1500's, partially destroyed in volcanic eruption 1706 and rebuilt between 1714-1721. The beautiful series of columns and arches, side chapels with altarpieces, sculptures and paintings and stained glass windows produce a beautiful entity.
Beautiful bell tower with a clock face towards the convent and main plaza of the conurbation. Inside the church there is an exhibition area of ecclesiastical items, Sacred Museum and both the bell tower and the Museum have a small entrance fee.
At the moment the Parish Temple and Sacred Museum can be visited daily in mornings and afternoons; They offer brochures in English, German and Spanish. Address is Calle Francisco Montesdeoca but you cannot miss it since the bell tower
can be seen throughout the area.

The front door is up some steps from the main road across from Piscinas Naturales. Inside you'll find a wide variety of cigars, boxes, and tabacco leaves on display.
For apparently no reason, there is a back garden which is beautifully laden with odd things on walls, presses, unexplained wood things, trees in the centre. It's a magically weird and quirky hidden gem in Garachico and I'd recommend a visit, especially if you like cigars, but even if you don't smoke at all.
I only marked it down because I was hoping for more going on inside, like maybe someone making a cigar, or someone excited about tobacco leaves, but it was a much more sedate affair. Still very cool though!
