A trip to Hiroshima is best kicked off with a visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, which contains a museum, the remnants of buildings destroyed by the 1945 atomic bomb and monuments to the people killed by this nuclear attack. Understanding Hiroshima’s relatively recent devastation is key to fully appreciating its beauty and culture. Visit splendidly rebuilt historic sites like Hiroshima Castle and Shukkei-en Garden, and don’t miss the Itsukushima Shrine on the nearby island of Miyajima.

The restaurant opened at 4 p.m. We went there slightly after 4 p.m. and the small restaurant was already full of local customers. Luckily, we were seated immediately. After we made our order (English menu available), we sat there in front of the teppan and watched the whole process how the Okonomiyaki was cooked systematically by various staff. The portion of one order was big enough for 2 people if you did not treat it as main meal. The Okonomiyaki was delicious and the staff there were very professional in the way they cooked.

We’re vegetarian and this is probably the best meal we’ve had so far after over a month in Japan!! It’s so good and huge portions too, the veggie one was about 800yen for the bigger size and 400/500yen for the smaller portion. It’s a small place and just after we had sat down there seemed to be a queue so maybe try go not in peak hours! You can sit at on a stall and watch them cook it up close or sit at one of the tables. I’m also not sure if you can smoke - we don’t smoke so were glad that people weren’t but it didn’t say anywhere that you couldn’t. Beers also available!

usubi Musashi is a popular local chain restaurant in Hiroshima.
Udon noodles and Musubi(rice ball) are special products.
Especially, Musubi-bento(rice ball lunchbox) of the take-out is popular.
Because saltiness works, the rice ball of Musashi is a good taste.
Wakadori-Musubi-bento (fried chicken lunch box, 780yen) is recommended.

Closed on Thursdays. English menu/English speaking staff available. Cash only. Map of trip advisor is wrong. Please show our address to the taxi driver, not the map.
This is a small and cozy restaurant that is a little off the center of Hiroshima. We were staying next to Hiroshima JR station and took a taxi. It took us around 20 mins in moderate traffic.
The entrance to the restaurant is unassuming and you may miss it unless you are looking for it. Seafood served here is very fresh. We had oysters, scallops, squid, prawns, and mackerel. We also had some miso seasoned beef, tofu and yam. Everything we had was good, but we enjoyed the oysters and prawns the most. You grill the lightly seasoned seafood using a charcoal stove at your table.
The price is very reasonable especially given the quality and freshness of the seafood. Really good value for money. We were there twice in 4 days. and it was one of the best meals we had in our 12 days in Japan. You need to book in advance as the restaurant is pretty popular with the locals and sits around 25 guests.
The lady boss speaks good English and is very friendly and helpful. She provided us with suggestions, and helped us call a taxi back to our hotel.
Highly recommended.

Yes, there are 12 taps serving local, craft and other international beers and other 30 varieties or so of some fine craft beers from the USA in bottles. Now the place has its own brewery! Yes, craft beer brewed on-site. Call us, message us or just walk in to experience what we have to offer. Vegetarian menu is also available. IF YOU WANT GLUTEN FREE MEAL PLEASE ASK US. WE ARE ABLE TO CATER. RESERVATION REQUIRED
Chosen because it was the first place we came across when we went for a walk looking for dinner. The kids liked the idea of western food as a break! Great food: salad, burgers, fish and chips, and pizza. Reasonable prices. Friendly helpful staff, all speak English (not that not speaking English ever makes things too hard in Japan!). Nice & interesting chat with friendly owner.

Our hosts Dom and Mani were just great. Started with 17 yr old Japanese whisky. Chill carbonara was great and the pizzas are just fine. We finished off with tuna salad, yummy.

We stumbled across Nagata-ya after leaving the peace memorial at lunch time.
We waited about ten minutes to be seated, although as we'd already ordered while queing the wait for our food once seated was very short.
We had ekonomiyaki on our must-do-food list so were really pleased to try it. Tasted great and even felt like a healthy(ish) well balanced meal. Yum.
Staff were excellent and the place had a pleasant atmosphere. I'd happily return.
