Maybe not the flashy sort of café/restaurant, but we went here for a late lunch on a local recommendation, and were pleasantly surprised. A generous helping of salad was served together with well prepared seared salmon (dish of the day). It was a working lunch so we needed some privacy and enjoyed the absence of background music that seems to be everywhere these days. The coffee was good too. A pleasant surprise even though the first impression may be somewhat uninspiring.

The New China is a rather uninspiring storefront restaurant in this sleepy little college town. The hot and sour soup was thick and tangy. However the sweet and sour pork was mostly breading with a rather bland sauce that was heavy on ginger and not very sweet or sour. If a person's appetite and pocketbook are yearning for a change from local fare New China is a good choice for something similar to what you would find in a Chinese restaurant 'back home,' where ever that may be.

On a family occasion we had booked a table for 20. After we were seated it took more than one hour for the pre-dinner drinks to arrive and more than two untill the food showed up. By that time we were starving, which may have helped add the impression that the portions were miniscule. Food tasted OK I must add and they had some decent wines in their cellars. As our corner of the dining room was pretty much deserted by the staff we had to pour ourselves all the time. We were seated indoors and the staff was mainly in the garden area where the band was playing.

Spjutegårdens Gästgiveri is situated in the very nice place, local skansen called Murberget. The view is fantastic (Härnösand may boast many great views), the food was very nice. In winter the restaurant is opened for lunches only. It is lunchbuffé: one may eat as much as he wants. There are some cold treats, two main courses (meat and fish), hot drink and a simple dessert, the guests are to take the food by themselves and pay afterwards. The menu can be found on the website. IMHO, the fish is better. The restaurant is popular among local folk, but they have lots of rooms for all, and no time is wasted on waiting. It's tricky to find Gästgiveri, my advice is to follow roadsigns "Länsmuseet", even when the road crosses industrial zone (the skansen and the restaurant are further: just trust the signs). The place is relatively child-friendly: there are baby chairs, and small children eat for free! There is a free parking, but it can be full at peak hours. My family enjoyed!

This restaurant is perfect for those warm summer evenings since its located on the waterfront in Härnösand. They have a great outdoor Seating area and has a certain after-beach feeling about it! Food was really good and its value for your money, If you have a boat its even possible to park it just outside the restaurant and make a grand entrance!
Enjoy!

We stopped in Härnösand on our travel through Sweden. The Bittens Rockpub was a great dinner choice. We went early and the bar was almost empty. The bartender was really nice and friendly. Burger menu is quite large for a pub, portions are 250g or 500g (and it is really 500g!). Beer selection is nice and also includes some local beers which are worth a try (Härnösand Smoked Belgian Stout). The interior is a little dark but all in all, it was a really good meal.

We ate at the restaurant on a busy night. The service and timing of meal and drink Delivery was perfect throughout. A good menu choice and meals that are presented well and with excellent flavours. Restaurant area presents well and window Seating provides good views. Would recommend if in Harnosand.

Tullportens Konditori is located right in front of Technicus. There is a little Terrace to sit outdoors, and red colour of the walls makes it quite cosy inside. There is a big choice of cakes, and they don't only look beautiful, they are very, very tasty! Some of them are unique or quite rare for Sweden. I love how they use the taste of oranges and make combinations with it, but my personal favourite are buns! Saffron buns with orange filling and cardamom buns with vanilla pudding inside (looks like semla bun without cream, with white glaze on top). Fantastic taste! Unforgettable and causes addiction. IMHO, prices for everything are quite low, 10 SEK per kaffebröd unit, about 30 SEK for a piece of cake.
