Graiguenamanagh or Graignamanagh (Irish: Gráig na Manach, meaning "village of the monks") is a town in County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is located on the R705 regional road by the border with County Carlow on the River Barrow at the foot of Brandon Hill. It is home to Duiske Abbey, the largest and perhaps the finest of the thirty-four medieval Cistercian abbeys in Ireland.

We had Sunday lunch at the Stand House recently. It was only fabulous. The menu is extensive and of Mitchlin Star standard, (well the Chef is ex Chapter 1 !!). The service was attentive and pleasant. The staff are supportive of each other and multi task. The staff in the restaurant are eqaully so and inviting. Reception staff are also pleasant, personable and engaging. The price is very reasonable both in the bar and restaurant
It is great to see people investing in high premise spec and quality staff / food, especially in smaller towns, where foot fall has to won over. This is a venue that is worthy of its praise and a place worth making the effort to visit.

Went for family lunch. Ordered soup, waited almost 25 minutes. When we finally got out food the soup was inedible as it was severally over salted. The bread that came with the soup was homemade but burned black, with lumps of flour throughout as it hadn't been mixed. Cutelry was dirty as were the glasses our water came in.
The toasted special was lovely though.

Day time cafe serving home made and locally sourced food, excellent coffee from an artisan roaster, organic salads grown in the area
Called in while passing through Thomastown. Tiny cafe, quite cramped at table. Had panini with organic mushroom soup followed by chocolate cake and coffee. Just delicious. Service with a smile also! Saw a lady come in with two small children. They were immediately given colours and colouring book! Lovely touch!
Do visit!

Very new, chocolatier which serves great coffee and delicious cakes and treats in a small spotless room. Local pottery is used and chocolates are made on the premises.
Mary (aka the truffle fairy) makes the best brownie I've ever tasted. I also purchased a variety of truffles while there...all were delicious.

The Old Schoolhouse is an excellent place to eat and relax in one of the most scenic locations you will find in the South East of Ireland.
Me and my friend both ordered the prawn and avacado salad. We requested no dressings or sauce as we were on our new paleo diet so the lovely waitress asked if we would like extra salad to which we both enthusiastically accepted!! We then received two or three leaves of iceberg lettuce with tiny prawns sprinkled ontop. Oh and 1 cherry and a half tomato each. No avacado and absolutely no extra salad. Unless we were only possibly meant to gey two leaves of iceberg lettuce initially. My other friend ordered omlette which when it arrived my 11yr old daughter exclaimed "my god thats a really small omlette"! We sent back our prawn and avacado dishes to get some avacado and received them back with 1 half an avacado each. We were then charged 8 euro for the pleasure. Absolutely delightful cafe and i regularly visit inistioge but will be dining elsewhere for lunch in future.

This is a lovely small hotel , bar and restaurant. Amazing food !
Last time we were here we were a little disappointed and felt the quality of the food had dropped, but we had been told by a knowledgeable local the old owners were back again. Whether that's fact or fiction I can't say but what I do know was the the quality of the food has gone back up again to its previous high standard. As usual staff were friendly and efficient. No complaints this time, we look forward to our next visit.

A visit to Clashganny will end with you planning your next visit. A homely atmosphere is created by Karen and her team from the moment you enter the restaurant. Then sit back and enjoy your menu choices that Rob and his team with bring together using a variety of local ingredients.
I cannot recommend Clashganny House highly enough. I have never been less than 100% satisfied leaving.

Coffee on High is a beautiful cafe on lower High Street, just off Main. While you sip coffee or tuck into something freshly prepared, admire the beautiful Duiske Abbey while listening to the Duiske River flow by. From freshly filled baked potatoes to a choice of seasonal open brown bread sandwiches, there will be something to suit all tastes. We make our own homemade soups and brown bread too and our desserts vary depending on the time of year as we try to keep things seasonal, local and organic wherever possible. There is loads to do in Graignamanagh while you are here, from pottery making (Mount Brandon Pottery) to Kayaking on the Barrow (Pure Adventure), Bike Hire (Waterside Bike Hire), not to mention the fabulous Brandon Hill and Silare Wood for beautiful walks to suit all levels of fitness. We will prepare a fresh lunch to take along so you can picnic al fresco! Find us on Facebook.
