We came across this restaurant on an overnight stay in Gorinchem. The staff were extremely helpful and even altered one of the dishes so it was more to our taste. The food itself was delicious, well cooked and the portions were plentiful. We were made to feel welcome. Highly recommended. English spoken with a menu in English.

Was there with friends one of the Friday evenings. What can I say - just a perfect place to take a few drinks with friends and eat something!

We order a table for four and arrived well before the others the souschef came to the table and we chatted about the starter we gave the chef free hands to serve what he liked for the 4 of us it was a delicious variety of Greek "tapas" father this we had the Greek mixed grill. All in all a pleasant experience.

Stumbled upon this place, good look about it, friendly staff, english is not all that good, mix up with our order i.e. we ordered the food from one young man, waited, then another waiter came along and took the order again. Apart from this the food was very good, wine too, service prompt and friendly and a fraction of the cost of 'Solo' the Michelin Star restaurant across the square (Also, unlike Solo, we felt fed after our meal). Don't misunderstand both places were very enjoyable.

woudrichem is an old small bastion city along the Maas river, in the neighborhood of Gorinchem. Many dutch visitors but surprisingly a limited number of foreign guests, even if the location and the site deserve a visit. One of the city Towers hosts a wonderful restaurant : De gevangenpoort. The Chef is really promising, mixing perfectly the savors, serving a very creative cuisine that you will remember a long time after your visit. I recommend the daily changed 5 service menu that equals what you should find in the best starred restaurants. Michelin came along recently and I would not surprised if they obtain a star sooner or later. Visit it rapidly !

Scheiwijk is an Esso motorway service station on the A27 near Gorinchem.
This unremarkable little Esso petrol station is hiding a secret.
The aromas waft over as soon as you step inside... homemade biscuits, freshly baked french bread, grilled organic this and that.... smoothies and freshly squeezed juices. And a chef who walks around offering customers little free tasters...
No plastic packs. No best before dates. No extortionate prices for mass produced junk. Finally someone gets it. Now I know why there's always a traffic jam on the A27....

Very nice restaurant, with lovely food and great service.
This restaurant is located at the old harbour of the historic town centre of Gorinchem. The restaurant offers a varied menu in a nice bistro ambiance.

We had diner her last weekend with a group of 12 people, among some 7 kids. The location and atmosphere was great at the inner harbour of Woudrichem. Also the interior of the restaurant has a good vibe ("gezellig" as one would say in Dutch). The service and good were also fine. So really a place to recommend for a nice diner!

In the Brasserie you can go for an extensive High Tea, a cup of coffee with fresh pastries and a festive lunch or dinner all week, with the exception of Monday. When visiting us just for drinks? Choose from our Snack&Bites menu, small bites to share!
My wife and I ate lunch and dinner on two different days at this restaurant. The setting is waterside and the restaurant is very nicely appointed. All the wait staff seemed very comfortable with English. The lunch was outside. We split the tomato soup and the club Sandwich. The soup was good but not out of the ordinary but the accompanying bread was delicious and the club Sandwich was very good and more than adequate for 2 people. A few days later we went back for dinner. The wait staff was very attentive to my wife's fish allergy but the manager personally took our order and assured my wife's tournedo with pepper sauce was prepared without incident. I had the salmon. With 2 glasses of pinot noir the total dinner was €58. Both meals were worth the price in terms of quality, presentation and flavor. We have recommended to our Dutch friends who live across the river in Gorinchem and we would visit again if ever in the area.
