We visit Nerja almost every New Year and we also go to the El Mirador several times on each trip. This has become our favourite restaurant for several reasons.
The El Mirador is probably one of the best located restaurants in the world. It is high up above Frigiliana and from the open-air tables on a Terrace (we only eat there in the afternoon) you get a fantastic view of Frigiliana and across the land to Nerja in the distance. There probably isn't a more romantic restaurant anywhere.
All the staff are wonderful and Rafael and his wife Rosemarie both speak very good English and are very well-travelled and highly-educated people. Over the years, they have become good friends.
The food at the El Mirador is excellent. At lunch we had several lovely dishes; for example, aubergine-stuffed ravioli in a creamy sauce, and a goat's cheese salad with caramelized onion that is truly out-of-this-world, and a warm Thai chicken salad.
Unusually, we had a couple of cocktails with lunch. More often than not, I find cocktails a bit of a disappointment ...all too often they are sweet drinks with minimal alcohol costing a lot of money. Not at the El Mirador. My wife had two exotic cocktails that were truly lovely. I had caipirinhas on both occasions, and they were authentic and not too expensive.
So, for food quality and ambience, you can't beat the El Mirador. Every time we come here, we end up loving Spain just a little more.

We close during winter month and are back in March 2017.
I'm a regular here but I haven't actually reviewed it on Tripadvisor before. Time to change that.....
I LOVE these pizzas.
Simple.
My favourite is the DIRK... lots of meats, its always filled to the very edge of the pizza so no big crusty edges.
Love these pizzas.

After many good reviews about this place we waited till our last night to try it.
Being served by a young boy (maybe 12?) meant there was no explanation of the menu. The sound of ping ping coming from the kitchen was the giveaway sign, food was bland and the noodles were straight out a bachelor super noodle packet. The vegetarian platter was nicely presented and looked superb, but it lacked any decent flavour.

We had both lunch and dinner here several times during our visit to Frigiliana. Very good food. Both meat and fish dishes were excellent. Nice to sit outside on the church square, but also fine tables inside. Friendly and helpful service.muchas Gracias y hasta pronto

Been visiting this area and Las China's for over 15 years ,never not enjoyed the food at this restaurant. The service is excellent and friendly. On Sebastian,s recommendation my wife went for favourite starter when eating in Spain which is pil pil and declared it ranked with the best , as does the fish soup ,can also recommend the fillet steak ,and the monk (rape) fish is fantastic . You always get good food at a fair price ,the drink are also good and generous without rip off prices .If it's good food good value good service ,then this is the place.

Frigiliana is beautiful; this restaurant takes advantage of the town's great asset--the view. Worth it for that. You can see the Mountains of Africa on clear days.
The wild boar in chestnut sauce was amazing. It's sweet but was not over-the-top or cloying. The Harira soup feels like it would cure you of any cold or flu. Wonderful, flavorful, something your grandmother would prepare for you.
And while wine is always a great bet in Spain, this restaurant had a fine selection of craft beers. Hoppy, higher alcohol, and alternate flavors. Sit out on the Terrace and try them all.
And--our server was fantastic. Friendly in a way that makes you feel you're a regular. Overall, great experience in keeping with the sense of the town. Recommended.

Strolled through Frigiliana and came across this restaurant. We were so lucky that the table at the front of the top Terrace had just become available. Food was outstanding and the view was amazing. The service was excellent with the waiters speaking many languages as they moved from table to table. If you are in Frigiliana, a meal here will certainly not disappoint.

Ate delicious tapas with a Polish twist...meatballs were especially superb, goulash was very good....and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the market, it being Wednesday lunchtime when we visited. The proprietor was very busy and rushed round like a whirlwind, cheerfully taking orders, clearing tables, and bringing food to the waiting diners as quickly as possible. Definitely recommended.

My husband and I were staying in Nerja for the second time this year and visited Frigiliana four times during our two weeks holiday, we love the place. We found this little cafe/restaurant quite by chance. We visited the beautiful Church in Frigiliana and spotted this menu board, all perfectly written in English and just had to have a look. La Tienda, as it is called is a small cafe which is run by a husband and wife. The food is amazing. I fancied the Ploughmans, my husband had a toastie. My ploughmans came on a platter. There were 3 large, thick slices of Cheddar cheese, a pot of Branston pickle, a pot of grainy mustard, crisps, 3 slices of ham, a bowl of sliced tomatoes and onions and in a separate basket, half a loaf of gorgeous bread with real butter. I was in heaven. This was by far the finest Ploughmans I'd ever tasted, home or abroad. My husband ordered the fresh fruit bowl which came filled with various fresh fruits with a topping of greek yoghurt and Frigiliana honey. Absolutely gorgeous. The couple on the next table had the Spanish platter and they were over the moon with their choice. There aren't many tables outside but there are more inside. I would definitely recommend La Tienda and this will be our favourite eating place when we go to Frigiliana again next year.
