Freiberg is a university and mining town in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is a so-called Große Kreisstadt (large county town) and the administrative centre of Mittelsachsen district.

The Kartoffelhaus (Potato House) is a classic German restaurant situated in the heart of Freiberg, Saxonia. Potatoes in all varieties are on offer ranging from Kartoffelsalat (potato salad) to baked potatoes and soups. I liked the restaurant because it has a nice ambiente and friendly personnel.
Parking space is limited. Best walk from town centre.

Schwanenschlößchen is one of the most important Sightseeings in Freiberg. The Historie is interesting for many guests. We have opebn full day.
Of the offered beers my choice was the "Lagerbier" relaly nice tasting and a very good starter for our dinner. The mushroomcreame was wonderful cooked and served. As main course we had three different kind of meat, typical German cooking and top tasting up to the bottom of the bowls of each course. A nice and chilled white as well as a tasty read wine went down smoothly. And the chokolade mouse topped with white creame were a very nice final, even if I had some Magenaufraeumer - a digestive they told me - at the end.

Great restaurant offering German and Bohemian cuisine. Very spacious and stylish inside. Wide choice of dishes and beers, portions are huge and food itself is really yummy! My favourite drink there is light beer with banana juice. If you are ever in Freiberg, this place is highly recommended to visit!

Many of these reviews are "5" or "1" --- neither of which is deserved. As you enter off the lovely town square you see this is a classic old German restaurant. Is the service awesome? No, but it is fine. Food spectacular? No, but it is very good. Don't expect great German breads....they didn't bring us any until we asked and then they brought sliced white bread. My pork was tasty but a little tough. The mushroom soup and starters were excellent.
I think in town you should try a "Freiberger"--- put the fires in with the burger...OK, I made that up but this is a fine restaurant for a large group...

Worked last month in Freiberg and ate out almost every night. Was overjoyed to find a great restaurant serving non-German food (tired of meat and potatoes?). The entire kitchen and staff are Italian, the owner/manager is born to do this. In my humble opinion this is the best quality food in Freiberg. It certainly is my favorite. If traveling here I would recommend it above all others.... unless you just can't get enough heavy food.

Very big selection (probably over 200 items) representing food from around the world. Although not bad the veg was a bit bland. Average atmosphere and service. Limited English. No cards accepted.

We were in Frieberg today at lunch time and asked a local for a lunch recommendation. He suggested the Tivoli and emphasized the great food and affordable prices. The Tivoli is super easy to find, has house parking in the same block, and the interior decor is a trip in a time machine back to the 1940s! Don't worry, the paint is fresh and it's in excellent condition, but the radio is definitely vintage! I ordered the spinach & salmon noodle casserole which was delicious. My husband had a schnitzel with potato croquettes. At the Tivoli you pour your own drinks, but the food comes hot to the table in a reasonable amount of time.
The only tricky part of dining at the Tivoli is that lunch specials run from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm daily. After 2:00 pm it's closed! So, don't be late for lunch if you want to enjoy the lovely Tivoli.

Us and some friends met in Friedberg, Germany to visit the LDS temple. Went there to have a quick dinner and we were very satisfied with the food and the employees. Some employees speak English which was very welcoming for us. Highly recommend! :)Thank you so much for your kind words. Greetings from FAvola
