Donaueschingen is a German town in the Black Forest in the southwest of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg in the Schwarzwald-Baar Kreis. It stands near the confluence of the two sources of the river Danube (in German: Donau; the town's name is an eponym).

We enjoyed a dinner of white asparagus (Spargel), steak and dessert. The spargel came with a cream sauce that was just excellent. Being in Germany during this seasonal dish,we had many sauces and this was the best. The steak was a small thick fillet, perfectly cooked, and very tender. We appreciated the emphasis on quality rather than quantity. (The portions in many German restaurants are too large and we leave a lot of food.)
Very nice restaurant with white linen table clothes fresh flowers and candle.
Would recommend it.

We found this restaurant by accident since it is not on the Main Street but a on quiet side street. The wait person was very friendly and attentive. There were many different, good Italian wines and we were both pleased with our starters and main...MoreWe are very happy that we Were able to please you . Thank you very much again for the good feedback. We are looking forward to have you back in our Restaurant soon. Ciao from Donaueschingen. Mino Lucanto & Toscana team.

We dined here as family Monday evening.
The welcome and attentiveness of the staff was the first notable point on entering the establishment.
We chose the Cordon bleu,Pork in beer sauce,Ox tongue,Local ravioli and a local variation on pizza.
All the meals were well received.
The Ox tongue that was my personal choice was truly excellent.
A waffle between us rounded off proceedings we simply couldn't manage anything else.
Lots of beer and soft drinks and a pleasant surprise with the bill.
The young staff in local costume really play their part well and come across as sincerely interested in how you're enjoying things.

Can't tell you how great these people are! Excellent service and the coffee...well, I've never had its equal and I'm from Seattle! My mom and sister and I went every day, sometimes twice a day. My sister was here competing in the para-archery world games, They were always greeting us with a smile. Quick and friendly service. They also have gelato and food options. I had a Mediterranean salad and it was good. I recommend it mostly for the coffee and desserts as they were superb. If you want a great coffee on a beautiful outdoor patio with friendly people, then look no further! We'll miss our Italian friends, they sure made our trip! Plus there's wifi!

We happened to stumble upon this restaurant while walking through the city. There was outdoor Seating which we preferred. Unfortunately there was heavy smoking and no space to sit outdoors so we sat inside. What a great evening. Excellent food; attentive service without doting over us. Nice portions. Overall a great evening. We had such a nice evening that we returned the next night. Try the specialty dessert - Apfelküchle auf Vanillesauce which is outstanding. There are also one of the few restaurants that are open late in the evening.

It was Christmas Eve and we took the train to Donauschingen then made the short walk up the hill to see the Donauquelle, the alleged source of the Danube.
Almost everywhere was closed but we found the Cafe Hengstler that described itself as 'Hofkonditorei'. We ordered tea and sandwiches.
Tea was served on an elaborate tray in a glass with infuser, a 2-3 minute sand timer and small bowls of sugar crystals. The sandwiches we also ordered were excellent. It was all so elegant.
The place was warm, comfortable and friendly - dog-friendly too for some patrons with pooches.
It is in Karlstrasse, the main street in the little town. I bet it's popular in the summer

Great place to eat. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Panacotta was delicious. There's also a public parking garage only a few meters away from the Resto. It's a small locale so I suggest making Reservations.

This restaurant provided excellent value. It is cosy and attractive - white tablecloths and warm decor. I had the house specialty pasta - wild boar. The pasta was spicy and delicious. My wife had a dinner salad, also delicious. The Waitstaff included a charming young lady from Spain and an Italian, both of whom spoke English to help us. The restaurant serves pizza, but this is a full-service restaurant, not just a pizza place. Portions were substantial. I would eat here every night if I were staying longer!
