I spend 1 night with my partner in Hotel Austria in December 2010. Great location in the center of Ciudad del Este, 2 "quadras" (200 m) from market streets. The hotel looked very promising with garden, terrasse on each floor. An hotel with an idea (and potential), with rooms having direct access to inner patio/garden.
My room was very small, could not open my bag, the furniture basic, bathroom ok, AC extreme noisy, big cockroach in the room as welcome.
A notice stick on the cabinet in the room advise customer to leave the room at 10:00 am sharp, one extra minute woudl be charged as one more day. I asked the German lady at the reception to check out at 12:00 am, but she was very serious about the extra minute after 10:00 am (but we could leave our bags in a safe depot).
The computer with Internet was not working.
The general atmosphere is 100 percent Austrian, furniture and cover on the tables and Christmas decoration. The tables are inviting, there is a Stammtish (table for always coming customer) in front of the reception desk and various places and corners to sit. I did not try the food, there are many eateries around.
I liked the location, the price is ok (40 euros).
I disliked : the cockroach, no space in the room, noisy AC, bed not comfortable.
In the corner street before this hotel there is the smaller Hotel Munchen (yes!), worth to check.

If you're looking for a place to eat between shopping, this is a good bet. They have both sushi and more traditional food. The sushi is always fresh, and I always ask their pineapple mint drink. On their traditional menu, the fish is great (surubi or lenguado).

This is a great authentic Italian.
We got the Carbonara spaghetti and Pesto tallarin. Both were excellent quality and very deep flavours.
The bread was incredible and we would be thinking about a pizza for our next visit as its great dough.
Good price and ok building.
The staff were not overly attentive, we had to flag them down for drinks, top-ups, pepper and the bill. A little more attention would of made this place 5 points.

A luxury restaurant offering a first class dining experience, distinguished by its subtle flavors and textures, as well as the attention and care in the demanding selection of inputs and ingredients. The best dining experience in the triple border. Opening Hours: Sunday to Monday from 08:00 am to 16:00 pm and Tuesday to Saturday from 08:00 am to 12:00 pm, Paraguayan hours.
While visiting SAX we found this Palace. Definitely a worth a visit! Ambiance well decorated, music that does not bother, staff very attentive! Menu is for all tastes and tastes a lot. We ordered shrimp risotto, a salmon, and sea food pasta; three excellent choices! House wine by the glass, ice cold beer; prices below to average for a good quality restaurant like that!

It's just a standard McDonalds. The same burgers, the same service. If you need a guaranteed place to eat and are in town, then you should just plonk yourself here and eat fast food.

This is really nice sushi. It might seem a little pricey, but it is good quality for that price. The staff are really polite and helpful.Thank you very much for your contribution to helping other people and tourists who transit through the three frontiers to get a good Japanese restaurant in Paraguay! Great hug and see you soon.

Just order a Whopper and be done with it. Now this place is nothing to write home about. I got the chicken tenders. Turned out to be dirty grey looking chicken nuggets. Bluuuur. What's going on. Like really. GREY CHICKEN isn't a chicken tender.

Rice, fries, and about a 650g of fine buttery tender chorizo steak for R$50.00 a person. Not much more to say...

Chinese immigrants in Korea started making their food which caught onto the locals and now dishes Like tangsuyuk, jjajangmyun and champong are considered more Korean than Chinese. As a matter if fact, if you were to order these dishes in China you will get a totally different thing!
This restaurant is the only one left of this genere in Paraguay. There were a few in Asuncion but moved away in time to Brazil. So whenever we get to go east, we head right for Oriental. I've been going here ever since in opened when the father was running the place. The flavour has slightly changed over time but it's still one of the best restos in CDE! Don't limit yourself to fried rice and yakisoba. Try the soups and noodles. You won't regret it!

Our favourite place to go when you just need that empanada fix.
Great selection, fresh ingredients and never get the feeling your empanada has been sitting there for hours.
Not the cheapest empanadas as they are 100% more than other equivalent places. But they are worth it.
I never can eat all the crusts though. They remind me more of a British Cornish pasty. Maybe that would be a good filling: peppered steak and potato or maybe chicken and mushroom.
