Parrilla y Restaurant en Carilo, Buenos Aires.
Centrally located this restaurant offers the normal Argintinian fare: meat in all forms, watered down interpretations of Italian classics and potatoes in all forms and degrees of cholesterol aiding creamy sauces. One good exception is the salad bar . Service passable and the wine list a good average.

First, let me say that just arriving into the town of Carilo wa the most pleasant of surprises; What a cute little town and a great little shopping area. The most upscale area we found along the coast north of Mar del Plata. We chose to eat lunch at this little hideaway on the ground floor. And it was terrific! I had a beatiful Malbec I had been wanting to try ($20p and one of the more expensive wines by-the-glass on the list) while my husband tried a local microbrew, Corsario Negro Mobile Red Bitter ($20p), which was fantastic too. We had 4 tapas plates: $24-$38p, the 2 beverages above and a glass of Port for dessert, and with service, it came to $168p. Really excellent food and service, a real treat!

Althoght the restaurant has good meets! It was the fish that caught our attention. We were a group of six and had made lunch Reservations ahead of time, not necessary at this time of the day but good in the evening.
My Salmom Rosado A La Parrilla was good, the Gambas Al Ajillo were wonderful as was the Abadejo fish.
Recommend it if you want to have a break from MEAT! By the way, next door is Catalina, run by the same folks! And it specialises in PASTA
Enjoy,ANDREAS

Excellent variety on the menu and reasonably priced. Our server, Michaela, was absolutely fantastic! The only reason it's not an excellent rating is because the milanesa could have been done a bit better. All pastas were outstanding and the suggested plates were all excellent. Of a party of 9 we only thought the milanesa fell a bit short. Recommend and will definitely return to try some desserts!

Enjoying the town with friend you really just want to have a nice comfort meal... and this is a good traditional old school pizza. I really liked, however my Argentinian friends would not approved, saying it was just fine.... you know, expectations are different.

We went to this restaurant on Christmas Eve, and were seated immediately at the time of our reservation. After about 10 mins our server finally came over to take our drink orders. She was neither friendly nor very courteous. We ordered drinks and appetizers and because she just stood there, I asked if she wanted us to order our main meal and she said yes. We ordered the fried calamari and the gambas al ajillo for appetizers. The calamari was decent however the gambas were oily and lacked flavor. For our main meals we ordered the paella which was extremely dry, the shrimp in cream sauce which was poorly seasoned and the pappardelle pasta with small clams which was just tasteless. My daughter had the grilled chicken with French fries which was the only decent tasting option. For a restaurant that markets itself as a seafood place, the best option would be to stay away from the seafood options.

This restaurant belongs to the Hostería Cariló Hotel (it is about 10 kilometers from Pinamar and situated in Cariló). Tables and sorroundings are attractively decorated, once you enter the waitress appears immediately with the menu and bread basket. Their pastas are reasonably priced, although they are not the restaurants specialty. Best are the fish courses, we tried several and found all excellent. I gave four stars for food quality and ambient, the disadvantage is that their prices are rather high, perhaps more than they are worth. If you ask wine by the glass, it is a good deal, as it is served as a generous quantity in a caraffe.

Very nice and quiet atmosphere. Although I had dinner there a couple of years ago, I still remember their ravioli stuffed with pumpkin and almonds... mmm...

Food was really great, excellent pastas and pizzas. But yet again another restaurant in Argentina trying to make an extra buck not bringing official receipt and hence not paying taxes... A shame for such a nice place
