Set on a pass between the northern and southern sections of the Teutoburg Forest, Bielefeld is home to about 325,000 people. Sparrenberg Castle, one of the main attractions, dates from the 13th century, as do the Altstädter Nicolaikirche (St. Nicholas' Church) and the Neustädter Marienkirche (St. Mary's Church). The city also figures prominently in the Bielefeld Conspiracy, a German internet joke that the town does not actually exist, but is rather an elaborate alien or government conspiracy.

The quality of the beers and service were very good. However very disappointed with the food quality. Schnitzel coating was greasy and meat rather chewy, side salad was very basic and the dressing was far to watery. The flammkuchen was tasty, however it had obviously been standing whilst they finished cooking the schnitzel as it was already cold when served.
May have just been a blip and would visit again for the beer and friendly service, just not sure if we would eat here again.

I'm a regular visitor to this restaurant as it's located underneath my favoured hotel in the old town. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is always good. Indian isn't a popular choice here but this place does a very good job. Considering.

I've been visiting here on and off since it opened and my last 3 visits have convinced me that the offering and quality is falling off.
It's now much more about beer and curry-wurst than it was Zander and Sancerre ...
The staff are still friendly and helpful though.
If you're looking for something a little special then maybe look in at Klotzers almost next door.

We went out for dinner with some wine in a group of three. As it was freezing cold, we took a seat in the inside. The decoration was meant to be Spanish-Italian-general Mediterranean. The efforts were not sufficient for converting the medieval local German building into the Mediterranean café. We sat on rather narrow tables. The food on offer sounded good, but after the large starter platter for sharing, three main courses and desserts, we still felt hungry. By the time the bill arrived we could make ourselves familiar with their rather steep prices. We spent almost £30 per person (some 35€) on food and a glass of wine each, so I would hope to feel satisfied (or drunk at least).
The orders in more detail: the wine was nice with prices suggesting excellent. I had the red housewine (light-ish Spanish red) which is good, but does not come with strong flavours. The starters were of good quality and served in small ramekin like pots. In general, the food was very salty but they still managed to produce a balanced taste. The main courses came without sides. The two meat portions looked very small and were confirmed as about 3 oz plus sauce. I had the fish-of-the-day which was a swordfish filet (estimated 4 or 5 oz) served without sauce but with some salad. The fish was fried with thyme and quite a bit of salt. This produced a nice texture and good flavours, but again the salt was at the upper boundary (personally, I'd do more thyme, less salt). The salt on the salad was just too much (it could do with some dressing rather than just salt and oil). The strong food was just too much for the light-ish housewine. Desserts were served in small ramekins again and were okay.
In sum, the place is good for some (expensive) nibbles and drinks. It is not the place for taking someone out for dinner or starting an evening out with food.

I had a lovely dinner with clients here recently, and it was a very lovely experience. The fish was excellently prepared, and though I was totally satisfied with my own selection, I couldn't help casting a longing glance at everyone else's plate. Though we sat outside - the weather was wonderful - I did get a look inside the restaurant proper with its open kitchen. Definitely worth a repeat visit!

Very tasty and good sushi for a reasonable price. At lunch, your order can be late, but at least came very fresh.

On Sunday mornings it's packed. So word got around that this is a good place for brunch with family or friends. Selection of food is good, as is the quality. Service was good in spite of the challenge of a big crowd.
If you come on Sunday mornings, make a reservation!

Having lived on the Rock of Gibraltar for four plus years and having travelled extensively in mainly southern Spain, we know authentic tapas! On that basis I can heartily recommend both the cuisine and the ambience of this restaurant.
The restaurant is very popular so make sure you book first. Like a lot of restaurants in Germany there is both an indoor and outdoor Seating option depending on the weather. When we went it was a hot day and we sat indoors right by the sliding doors.
The service is good the tapas is downright tasty! So tasty in fact that I would say it is the best tapas I have eaten outside of Spain. The menu is large and there will be someting to delight everyone. It's a great place to meet and eat with friends.

I've heard a lot about this place and it didn't disappoint. The menu offers a nice selection for steak lovers and we selected a steak platter with three different kinds, plus a Bife de Lomo (filet steak) which were all of very good quality and nicely prepared. Service was good, mostly based on speed and attentiveness.
While it's not really a cheap place, the prices are reasonable for the quality and internationally compared not too much.
I guess I'll be there again!
