Up market very expensive coffee house in prime position. Outdoor Terrace with comfortable Seating and partial view of the Lake. Good panini and excellent cakes served by a very pleasant young lady. Whole thing spoilt by very unpleasant man who brought the bill, saying in a loud voice "Service not included". Now, we may be ignorant foreigners, but we speak passable Hungarian and have visited the country many times. We know it is customary to leave a few small coins on the table, not to pay a service charge. Cash only (sure I've paid by card before as the bill is always quite large) so I carefully counted out the exact amount, 6,150 HUF. Said waiter took this with a somewhat bad grace, returning a couple of minutes later with a bill in his hand for 6,950 HUF saying "You made a mistake". I was about to pay him the extra 800 HUF (about £3) when I saw our original bill for 6,150. No mistake on his part; he was just trying to palm off the wrong bill. After the sweet cakes, a very sour note.

Popped in for drinks one morning & it was very nice. Our server spoke great English & was really friendly. However, popped in for drinks the next evening & were less impressed. It was clearly trendy, snooty server time & we obviously were far too uncool to be sat drinking Coke Zeros at that time of night!

It is said this area is favoured by German tourists. It shows. In trying to order, ignored by one waiter, another said "Deutsch?", shrugged and walked away. Once I responded in German, he became somewhat helpful. NOT impressed. Lots of other places to eat in...MoreWe are so sorry! Maybe that temporary waiter assistant did not speak well german. That is why walked away. We appologize for the inconvenient.

This is the place I will be recommending to people when they ask me about Balatonfured. A little hidden away from the main street where all the restaurants are but it only adds to the experience.
We visited on a late September evening, warm enough to sit outside next to a quiet road. The atmosphere was great with some good music pouring out of the speakers. We were quickly approached by a smiling staff member making us feel welcome. The place was not very busy at the time so one person serving was reasonable. Having worked in hospitality before I had to appreciate how quick and efficient he was.
Recommendation of food and wine was spot on and literally made our evening combined with relaxed and genuinely friendly approach of the waiter. We stayed there for a while and it was a pleasure to see him striving to deliver the best service to every other table. The food was great and tasted fresh and you could easily tell the ingredients were of the highest quality.
After speaking to the waiter for a few minutes we realised it was actually the owner of the place and it was truly refreshing to see he was obviously leading his staff by example every other day.
Sadly, it was our last day in Balatonfured when we visited Kredenc Borbisztro but we will be coming back next year.

We've been to this small coffee shop several times, and we always had a great time there. It's a perfect, clean place with good view to the lake Balaton, nice furniture, great coffees and delicious cakes. But the best there is the way they treat guests. I think this place is run by a family and they are all super nice, polite and do everything to make you feel absolutely comfortable!
If you are in Balatonfüred (which is a lovely town) this coffee shop definitely deserves a visit!

This place is nicely located in the small town of Csopak, above the famous Balaton lake. We had a table on the Terrace and immediately were attended by the owner of the winery. The menu is written on a blackboard, it is not very ample, but all the main courses look attractive. I chose the wild boar neck in a tasty sauce, accompanied by Brussels sprouts and an imaginative red cabbage cream, it was excellent. Although they specialize in white wines, I preferred a red wine of their production. They recommended a glass of a 2010 Merlot-Blue Frankish blend, which arrived luke warm, I had to send it back. The owner came immediately and offered me free of charge their most expensive wine, a 2004 Merlot, really superb. Later they brought back my first order too, at a correct temperature, so I can only praise also their service.

This is an old restaurant along the road 71. I have been here in the last years a couple of time but was surprised about the quality.
And the quality did not dropped at all. Friendly staff, prices are ok and food is typically Hungarian. See some of my pics. Simply delicious.
Is open 12 months a year but inside is quite small, so rather you reserve a spot.

We had lunch at Halászkert restaurant with friends. Fish soup, duck and trout are highly recommended, all were super delicious. Service was average. Prices are fair. Parking was free during our stay which is a good point bearing in mind, that you have to pay everywhere for parking in Balatonfüred and it's quite pricy.

Baricska Csarda is in odd environment, between ancestor grapes in the heart of Balatonfured - from the ship harbour, and from Tagore Promenade onto cca. 600 metres. From the Terrace, wich is covered with the wild vine there is a magnificent view overlooks to the lake Balaton. In 1811 formed Csarda re-open was in early summer in 2013. since then there has not only excellent fish from the lake and offers traditional cuisine, yet stays true to tradition after all in very good quality. The re-opening Baricska Restaurant operators - who directed the excellent Chianti restaurant in Veszprem - is an important new target set themselves. Let this catering establishment be the gastronomy, the wine culture, and a sanctuary of the culture that advertises the traditions of the neighbourhood wineries and Hungarian food making, his fame. The restaurant is on the central place of Balatonfured, from the 71 main road to the north finds, (The Shell petrol station on an access road which can be found at his entrance to approach). There is a beautiful Panorama overlooks the ancestor grapes, and onto Balaton, Tihany Peninsula.Ratings:Best 'csarda' in Hungary. Hungarian Cuisine MagazineBest 'csarda' at Lake Balaton. Baricska is regarded as one of the best restaurants around Lake Balaton so I went with very high expectations and I left mostly satisfied.
The place itself is a "recreation" of the old style Hungarian wayside inns, with live gypsy music (in the evenings), huge Terrace covered with ivy and wooden chairs/tables. I have to say the atmosphere is as good as it gets in its category, you feel like time travelling.
The menu consists mostly of Hungarian dishes (beef stew, duck with saurkrat, wiener schnitzel, etc), using high quality ingredients.
What we tried:
- Pickled cucumber cream soup - bit too acidic but very refreshing in a hot summer evening
- Daily soup which was cold pear cream soup - good
- Wiener schnitzel (pork tenderloin) -simply perfect, juice inside, crispy outside
- Fried sturgeon fillet with sturgeon sausage and celery gratin - maybe it was my fault of ordering a non-Hungarian dish or maybe my expectations were too high but I was not that impressed. It was tasty don't take me wrong but I missed that extra oomph that I felt with the wiener schnitzel.
- Somloi sponge cake - I'm not a big fan of this dish but gave it a try in case they know some magic. It was okay nothing special.
For the above menu plus a bottle of mineral water we paid around 11k HUF and was happy to pay a tip, service was professional.
Overall, we had a nice evening, everything tasted good. I'd return again and can recommend Baricska (in the weekends reserve a table).
