Enjoyed 2 very tasty dinners at Le Tripot, which was recommended by the hostess at my lodging. I rarely return for a second dinner during a visit so that alone is evidence of my satisfaction. Very reasonably priced for the quality especially for France. Portions are not as large as in many Normandy restaurants, but certainly plenty. Not typical French, but with infused with a few Asian influences in the weekly special menu and a couple dishes. Appears to have a strong local following. I enjoyed Croix d'Or too but consider this a far better value.

Good straight to the Terrace, don't stay in the ground floor. Upstairs is VERY nice.
Very good restaurant, great friendly service and very solid food.
Went there for dinner, the view is very good (you need to be there early) and everything in the restaurant is good quality.
Also has a decent wine list.
Great 21 EUR menu.

Service au jardin en periode d'ete
This lovely family restaurent and hotel has been a favourite overnight stop for us for some years. Madame Pignot is so welcoming and really looks after her guests. Monsieur Pignot is the talented chef. So the friendly welcome and the food, all carefully sourced from the area, are a treat.
We began our meal with a delicate, finely made duck terrine, continued with a delicious lobster 'special' for the day, and ended with a delightful Madeleine, sorbet and creamy dessert. There was nothing pretentious about the cooking. It was beautifully prepared, elegant and delicious. Can't wait to go back!

So glad that we tried this gem of a restaurant in the town of Avranches. Whilst we love french cuisine it was such a refreshing change to eat Asian food. We particularly enjoyed lovely stir fried vegetables in a very tasty sauce. Definitely a restaurant to return to in the near future.

Perfect and well prepared food. I had the st jacques on a hot plate with fried noodles and it was perfect. Great place with great food, ambiance a bit so so. Staff very friendly and swift.

Located between Caen and Rennes, in the heart of the Bay of Mont Saint Michel therefore the crossing remains a remarkable and unforgettable ride. Chief Charles Bazin and his team offer traditional cuisine using fresh local produce and quality! Recommended by the Routard among others, do not hesitate and pass the doorstep of our restaurant to discover a warm and friendly atmosphere!
We stayed in Avranches overnight on Armistice Day so being a Bank Holiday we were limited with restaurants being open. I'd read previous reviews on TA about this restaurant and as open on this evening we thought we would give it a go. We received a warm welcome and great service throughout the evening. The menu was both varied and interesting which spoilt us for choice.
My husband chose the trio of foie gras for starters and I went for the crab which were both delicious. We both had the fillet steak for mains which they assured us would be cooked medium rare and not the usual 'blue'. The steak was a very generous portion, would have benefited being aged longer, overall the main course was very tasty. We plumped for a bottle of Rose wine which by French restaurant standards as reasonably priced. Overall a very pleasant dining experience and would go back again if in the area.

If you love fine dining you will love this place,we chose the cheapest set menu 28.50,which from the canapes to explanation of the menu, was superb, the sommelier went out of his way to explain which wines compliment each course and never do you feel patronised, the food was magnificent along with the service,I must mention the surroundings which are lovely, overall the highlight of our French trip

Having read some of the reviews we ensured that we had made a reservation for this restaurant. It is rated in the top three of 39 restaurants in Avranches. I dread to think what the 39- 10 are like as Le Bistrot De Pierre failed to meet with our expectations. The starter of Oysters in cider were fairly good but the bread crumb topping was more like a tasteless dust. The main course of skirt steak in mushroom sauce was equally uninspiring and a little tough. The wine at a mid range price was also poor. Al in all this was probably the poorest meal I have ever hand in France.
The service however was good and very pleasant.

A group of us stayed here and we were given a sheltered outside area to sit which was great due to the hot sun! The service was very good, although meals got a bit mixed up. And the food was tasty.

Le Grand Aigle is a massive restaurant, which makes it a little impersonal maybe. However, the staff are friendly and helpful. It is a 'Help Yourself' buffet style restaurant. There is plenty of choice. Starters, Main and Desserts. A really good variety of everything. Especially if you like seafood, although there are plenty of meat dishes as well. You can go to the buffet as many times as you like. However, if you are a Vegetarian you may come out hungry. Whilst France in general is getting better at catering for Vegetarians, this restaurant has not yet caught up.
I see some reviewers have complained that the food is cold. There are microwaves to hand which are easy to use and you then can make sure that your meal is hot. There is absolutely no reason to eat cold food. Don't expect fine dining, but you will get a satisfying and delicious meal.
