The north Indian city of Varanasi, or Benares, is regarded as sacred by Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. Situated in the fertile Ganga valley and on the banks of the Ganges, Varanasi is a place of pilgrimage for Hindus, who come to bathe in the holy river. Known as the City of Temples and a beacon of culture, Varanasi has produced many renowned writers. It’s also a center of silk weaving, so practice haggling at the chaotic bazaar for some beautiful souvenirs. Rickshaws are the best way to get about.

One of the oldest cities of India, Banaras acts as an important religious center. The numerous bathing ghats (steps) along the bank of the Ganges attract huge crowds of pilgrims.
Enjoy the Ghats while on a boat ride. Suggest a early morning or evening boat ride to enjoy the view of the ghats

One of the most revered temples in Varanasi, it is home to Lord Hanuman and it is said that wishes here do get fulfilled. There are two entrances that lead to the main temple, one from a small alley and another from a grand entrance, where the parking lot is.
A small walk will lead to the main temple. A small sight of Hanuman will bring joy on the face of the worshipers. Once done with the Darshan, do not forget to circum-mambulate the temple to get the divine blessings. And where there is Lord Hanuman, Lord Ram has to be there. So there is another temple dedicated to Lord Ram inside the premises.
Washrooms are available.
apart from these, there are a few sweet shops inside selling sweet delicacies. Some kid-friendly shops are also available.
P.S: Beware of notorious monkeys. They wreak havoc inside the temple and tend to snatch personal belongings. Avoid carrying anything that's hanging around as it is easier to snatch.

we were lucky tat our hotel was very close to Assi Ghat. We could see it from our room. Yoga takes place every morning at 06.15. I did it ; what an experience, about 150 people doing yoga as the sun rose. Very lucky experience.

The traffic sucks bad from Varanasi, but it is STILL worth it, and this temple is very nice, though you have to take CAMERA pics, and not PHONE pics (THEY ARE DEATHLY AFRAID OF SELFIES!!!)
Recommend the trip from Varanasi, though beware the traffic is awful.....

Maha Mashaan Mani Karnika ghaat....
Myth is that who so ever descends here to leave this mortal world directly goes to मोक्ष ।।
Need to educate this myth to get eradicated from the minds n hearts of the devotees n families that nothing of such thing happens but only increases pollution, dirt, filth n poisons our mother The Ganga.

This temple is located on the Benares Hindu University campus, about 3 miles (20 min drive) from Varanasi's city center. There was a prayer service going on when we arrived. The tree-lined area leading to the temple provides a serenity and elegance.

The Dhamekha stupa and other imposing structures adorn this holy site where Buddha first preached his message.
One of the most holiest of Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Very close of Varansi (just 10km). Local chaps act as guides for 50 rupees each. There are minimal entry tickets at each site. But the cleanliness and beauty of the place is just breathtaking. Always remember to read the notifications at each site. They tell us a lot about the history of the place.
