Stopped in here for a light lunch. The waitress was cheerful, friendly and efficient. The decor is bright, quirky, and interesting, with brightly colored walls, musical instruments for added interest and a beautiful ceiling.
The menu had lots of choices, and I really appreciated the fact that they had sizes for small eaters too. A small fish and chips was just over $6...you can't beat that price!
What I really liked is their build a burger menu. You can choose from a 3 oz, 4 oz or 6 oz burger, one patty, two , etc. Then your option of toppings...the usuals are free and you can get a little fancier for a small add on price.
Today was free fries day...and that meant free french fries with our burgers. So my meal of a 3 oz hamburger and fries was $4.99. Excellent value and it was a good burger.
The menu was varied and the pie of the day was peach..wish I had time to try that!
Will be back!

I stopped eating here years ago, simply because the food was over-priced and of low quality. I heard that the restaurant was under new ownership so I ventured in to check it out. The service was excellent and the food was unbelievably good. The pizza...MoreThank you for taking the time to leave a review. See you next time.

Restaurant Composé is an authentic Austrian Restaurant. We offer a range of traditional Austrian Food. Furthermore our professional Chefs create extraorinary seafood-dishes with the "Special european Touch" Amazing waterview and excellent Service grant an unforgettable experience for you!
I spent some 15 years in Europe, of which a good portion was in Germany and relatively close to Austria. The owner / chef (Amanda) has produced an excellent facsimile of a schnitzel here in Canada, along with some other Canadian style dishes. This is the premiere restaurant in this region, no doubt whatsoever.

Claim to be the smallest pub in Nova Scotia.
This is not a fancy place; it IS, however, a good place.
We ordered the special, and some beer. It went down very easily. The server was very good--making sure we had what we wanted without disturbing us constantly. There is no sea view, just a comfortable setting.

We had dinner here twice while we were in Annapolis Royal. I'll agree with the reviews that said the portions aren't very big, but I don't see smaller portions as necessarily being a bad thing (after all, that leaves more room for dessert.)
The first night we shared the mussels and my husband had the scallops while I had the salmon. He was a bit underwhelmed, but my salmon was very nicely cooked. Because the portions were smaller, we decided to share a dessert and had the carrot cake which is a really more of a spice cake - very moist and flavorful.
The second night we were tired from our whale watching trip and wanted something a bit quicker so we had salads and pizza. The salads were good and the veggie pizza toppings were nice, but the crust seemed a bit soggy in the middle.
Both nights our server was very friendly but service can seem a bit slow.

Highway # 1 near the lights in Annapolis Royal
The group of us stopped in on a whim for lunch. between the 5 of us we selected quite a few different dishes, all of which arrived very quickly, the portions were very sizely enough that there were leftovers even thought we are all big eaters. Every we got was steaming hot and tasted exactly as it should, I would have to say it is among the best Chinese food in the province.
In summery the place was clean, the food was excellent, the prices were as expected, the dinning area could use some small updates, the waiter was pleasant, but all and all I do highly recommend The New Charlie's Place.

The first time I visited this heralded cafe, I went for breakfast and like my fellow diners could not contain my enthusiasm for the fabulously crispy hash browns and the toast -- made from home-made bread. It is also a rare thing to order bacon and have it come to you properly cooked -- Carol's was.
The second visit I went for lunch. I had Carol's tuna salad Sandwich with her home-made chicken rice soup. Not fancy fare, but prepared with impressive care and attention to details that so many places overlook -- like seasoning and decent bread.
My server was a friendly young woman who was as enthusiastic about the cafe and its cook as the diners seem to be.
All in all, a terrific spot, especially in the summer/early fall, when the lovely back patio is open.

A very charming Bakery and restaurant just down the road from Fort Anne
We went in to get some bread and snacks.
Service was slow and rather unfriendly.
Ordered a small loaf of bread, 4 or 5 cookies and a 1.5 inch slice of strudel.
As mentioned before no prices posted....***
So buyer beware. ASK PRICES.
As this came to $37.00!!
I thought the woman behind the counter was joking at first but then figured out she was serious.....when she stated...”I have bills to pay!”
Not recommended!
