Very friendly staff, simple but good menu, varied choice of wines and beers.
A typical German eat and drink local/pub. Well patronised and when all tables are occupied, sharing a table is expected and welcomed.
Simple, home-cooked food of good quality and generous portions. Local wines are reasonably priced. 2 course meal and drinks for 20-25 Euro per person.

When visiting Alzey, with its charming half-timbered houses, interesting statues, old buildings, the Italian restaurant La Nave, in the very centre, is a good choice for a pleasant dinner. Great choice of dishes, a pleasant staff, fine outside Terrace, we liked it. A pity, they do not serve local wines (as far as we could see on the menu) but only Italian ones. Might be wise to make a reservation a couple of hours before.

The telephone is 0 67 31 94 18 62. I have the business card and visted this place, it is great.
I stayed in Alzey for one night with my parents on our way across Germany, and we found this restaurant by chance after driving around the city and looking for a place for dinner. (There were no restaurant reviews on TripAdvisor). We had fantastic, home-cooked Italian food at il Tramonto. Simple and delicious food, with great service.

Service was pleasant, attentive and speedy. The menu has a wide selection of pizza, pasta, meat and fish dishes. Vegetarian dishes are available and standard meals can be varied to accommodate vegetarian tastes. The wine list is comprehensive and reasonably priced.
My wife and have now eaten here on 3 occasions and have always been satisfied with the quality of our meals and the standard of service.
The only negative, in my opinion, is that tables for two are small, bistro-sized which I find uncomfortable. However, we have always been allowed to sit at a larger table if one is available.

Schade!

Trying to find some last chrsitmas-presents I ended up again at the RÖMER. What a great atmosphere für the pre-chrsitmas-time! Including the nice decorated christmas-tree! But besides the decoration of this so very traditional Restaurant I am coming because of the food. My friend is always eager to have a "schnitzel mit Zweibel und sauce"... BU I tried this time the super-spft "schweinelende" with sauce bernaise and potatoes. It was a great surprise! Have a bite - you never forget! And the wine, all from the chef produced, bottled and served, is representative for the work of the "winzers" (winemakers) in Rheinhessen. Come für a visit; if you are in Mainz, it will take you not more than 30 Minutes.... Have fun!

The restaurant is located at the main street. There is some public parking space available. The decoration is OK, nothing fancy. The dishes are standard Italian/German. The pizzas are yummy. The Saltimbocca has less to do with a real Saltimbocca alla Romana. The service is quick and friendly. The prices are moderate.

The staff speak English, Italian, French and of-course German, and are very friendly and welcoming. It isobviously a restaurant well loved by the locals and rightly so as the dishes are served fast and are of excellent quality. We had two main pasta dishes, a shared sweet and a bottle of wine all for €33. The wine is local and we found the Riesling a good match to creamy pasta, at only €12.50 very good value.
