Akumal means "Place of the Turtle" in the Mayan language, and if you snorkel here, you just might see one swimming alongside you. (Don’t touch it, though. That’s prohibited by law.) You’ll definitely see coral and beautiful fish in the clear, sparkling waters. This tourist-friendly little town is about an hour south of Cancun—but it seems light-years away.

Simple local food, clean and quiet. Only place other Lol Ha (which can be very busy) which is a walk from the beach.

On the beautiful beachfront of Half Moon Bay in North Akumal is a one-of-a-kind restaurant and bar: La Buena Vida - The Good Life. La Buena Vida always has a festive atmosphere with great music, cold beer, scenic ocean views, and good fresh food. Meals are served on the beach under shady palapas with a casual atmosphere and an appetizing menu, ranging from fresh ceviche to tasty hamburgers. La Buena Vida is a popular restaurant venue for weddings. The rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, and reception can all be planned by the team at Akumal Weddings. Reservations Not Required! Reservations are accepted for groups of 12 or more. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Pesos, and US Dollars.<br>Have an event coming up? We specialize in weddings, Welcome Parties, and receptions!
What a beautiful find! Great food (and I’m fussy), great view and great service. It’s such a cool place (especially for those important instagram pics!) with the hammocks, wooden swings and treehouses! We snorkelled on the beach there too and there’s no charge for using the beach or their beach bean bags/ sun loungers... and the snorkelling is great; lots of lovely fish, squid and we were lucky to see a huge stingray! Must see if visiting the area.... an 8-10 minute walk from Akumal Bay

This restaurant advertises that if you rent one of their boats for 3 hours of gulf fishing, they will cook your catch for free. Two of us went out yesterday and caught 2 mahi mahi.
We and our wives then had our fish for dinner last night (they do keep the rest; that's why mahi mahi was "fish of the day" yesterday.) You are charged only for the drinks. The dinner was excellent, including a cerviche that was superb!

Stayed at the Hacienda De LaTortuga for a week and patronized La Lunita many times, although other restaurants were within walking distance. Good food and drink, lovely location, attentive service.

A view of Lol-Ha Restaurant and Snack bar from the tip of Akumal Bay. Lol-Ha offers seafood, steaks, pizza, mexican food and great burgers. It is kid friendly, casual, and has the best view of the main bay. Check for weekly live entertainment and look into our romantic dinners on the beach. Our staff will welcome you and make you feel at home. New management as of 2009. Same owners since 1984.
The food was average and the service was average. The price for the food was expensive. You must have a ticket to use the restroom without being charged a fee. Watered down drinks but a beautiful view. The beach is very busy and had lots of activity. The turtles were in the sectioned off area and you could see the people flocking to the area from the restaurant.

When I have a craving for ice cream in Akumal, only Lucy's can satisfy! We've been coming to Akumal annually for nearly a decade, and we make a point of stopping in at least once each time. Mint chocolate chip is my favourite among the long list of flavors (plus several seasonal offerings), but I've never been disappointed! They also have vegan options.

This is far more than a dessert or breakfast place. It has an extensive and often inventive menu of Mexican and gringo-friendly dishes, including perfectly-cooked fish. Yum, try the grilled fillet catch of the day with pineapple-papaya salsa. Not a dud meal in four visits. Fab guacamole. The mains always had plenty of side vegetables; I felt like they cared about nutrition. Fast, friendly service.

The Akumalito is an outdoor lunch counter next to Super Chomsky’s (grocery/souvenir store) in the center of Akumal’s tiny business area. It is not fancy, expensive or fine dining. It is convenient and has good food for reasonable prices. It usually quick in service unless it is full of people. I love to have breakfast here. The hue is motuleños are my favorite and the banana smoothie excellent.

This is a new restaurant in Akumal. The food is excellent and the service is great!! The coconut shrimp is heavenly!!
Had a massive craving for coconut shrimp and found Tequilaville on this site. 5 huge shrimp served with rice and veggies, very filling! Hubby had nachos with chicken that were loaded with toppings. And of course started with homemade chips and Pico de Gallo. Def recommend food here!

We ate at the Gourmet Restaurant in November, 2017. The restaurant itself is elegant with its tall ceilings, and stately window treatments. The service was very good. We had foi gras appetizers, Sea Bass and Rack of Lamb and desert. The restaurant was nearly full at the time of our 7:30 reservation. The menu is similar, in part, to Alux, Arlequin and Don Pablo. My advice would be to pick one or two of these, then change your theme for the others.
