In Saalbach-Hinterglemm, the hills are alive with the sound of happy travelers. Nestled in the Austrian Alps, it’s a skier’s dream, featuring a network of pistes and perfect powder. There’s plenty to do in the summer months, like hiking, mountain biking, geocaching or exploring the mountain forest from above, via a “treetop path” that’s a series of bridges, platforms and towers.

The Joker card, included in our hotel rate, enabled into ride this for free. About 10 mins to the top station at 1,480m from where there are spectacular views, and a plethora of walks over the hills are available. It's a nice easy downhill walk back to Saalbach, about 90 minutes non stop, or longer if you stop, as we did, for a leisurely lunch at one of several establishments you pass on the way down. A great day's activity.

Using the Schattberg x-press allows you get wonderful views of the area. Also it is a good starting place for some excellent walks.
Recommended walk - To Shattberg-west, then down to Hacklebergeralm via route 7 (wonderful food) and then down to Hinterglemm. About a 3 hour walk but well worth it.

This ski lift leads to a nice mountain-top bar serving tasty hot chocolate! Blue runs 11 and 12 down from the top are great runs, even for beginners.
The views are fantastic of course and the restaurants along the way offer tasty snacks and drinks if you need a break.

It is always busy when the weather plays along and a good tip is get there as early as possible. For MTBikers and Hikers it is superb and for those who are not so keen on walking the noddy train is a great alternative to getting up to the Lindlingalm and high wire park area. I find the bridge greatly overpriced and it is not worth the money. Everything else is excellent.

High up in the treetops at the end of the valley, a wooden walkway with towers and Bridges. Excellent fun for young and old - and you get a pixie hat! As easy or as hard as you want to make it, but really good fun.

In the BikePark you will find a large number of long singles, beautiful views, nice people and infrastructure-oriented cyclists. It's one of those places where they like bikes and bikers. My Recommendation!!!

Unusual because it runs about every 10 minutes 5 linked cars at a time. Shows the popularity of cycling in the area because the four times I used it it was 3 cycles to 2 walkers. The summit is a nice wooded ridge in either direction with easy hills in both directions plus a tough (but popular) one to the west - Barnkogel. It's free too in Summer if your hotel is a member of the Joker card scheme. A nice half or full day out.
