Conakry, Guinea's port capital and once a small island town, has spread to the country's mainland and now comprises 1/4 of the population. This bustling metropolis boasts the national stadium, Stade du 28-Septembre, the National Museum, the Palais du Peuple, a thriving botanical garden, numerous open air markets and plenty of nightlife. Off the coast, the Iles de Los are a popular local escape for swimming and relaxing.

Conakry locals take boats over to this group of Islands for relaxing and swimming at the Beaches.
After two weeks in a remote village in the interior, building solar food dryers, I was ready for some Rnr. Before heading back to Feb winter.due to positive reviews here, I decided on the Magellan
On Kassa Isle. I was misled to take a private boat for 400000gf, instead of the 5000gf boat. A short hike across the island, brought me to the Magellean on a Sunday, and to a bungalow. There were many other tourists also there, however they all left before dark.I was the solo tourist for 3nights. I enjoyed the beach and warm clean water at high tide. Breakfast was ok, dinner was iffy. Had electric at night for AC for two nights but not the third. A long hot night, called my boat man to take me back. Fortunately had enough cash to escape. All about the Guinea adventure.

Went few times with colleagues and never got disappointed.
To start, staff is lovely and attentive. They offer complimentary juices and the buffet is all-you-can-eat style and include green/rice/pasta salads, vegetarian, meat and fish dishes.
If you do not fancy buffets, you may also order a la carte.
Last, but not least, desserts are generous and include chocolate mousse and fruit salad.
MLS is absolutely worth more than one visit if you are in Conakry.

Set amongst flat rolling plains is the capital city of Guinea. A meandering, winding river sits beside it. The vast expanse of the Atlantic almost never more than a stones throw away. Wander amongst the quaint little buildings set amongst agriculture farmlands. I was on my way to Dakar stopover on an Emirates flight. Also on the tarmac in the centrally located airport is an Ivory Coast airline with turboprop engines. Staffs at the airport are welcoming if a bit shy. Reasonably efficient by west Africa standards. Not the busiest aero port on the continent the Mbessia.

Located in the republic’s capital, this museum contains a nice cross-section of secular and sacred items such as masks.
Like most National Museums in Western Africa, this is a very poor collection of random artifacts... not much interest, I don't think one will learn much, but it can be worth a 5-10min visit since it's pretty much the only cultural attraction in Conakry.
On of the displays showed broken pieces of glass bottles, and the description mentionned these were glass bottles used to store liquids...
