A great place to visit and one of the best Maraes that we visited. Take time to read the boards and absorb the historic culture of the island. Human sacrifice, cannibalism, hunting, fishing and village life. Outside the honour stones of the kings have been preserved and make for goosebumps as the site is explained. We were lucky to be on our own tour so spent almost 2 hours walking about and absorbing the atmosphere.

Nice stop for a short visit. Not as well organized as other locations in French Polynesia but worth a visit especially if you are driving around the island.

What a bustling, busy little village! Fare is a great place to just wander around, people-watch, and see what real-life is like in French Polynesia! We visited on a Saturday evening and it was surprisingly quiet and relaxed. When we walked around again on the following Tuesday morning, it was a totally different scene.
On the Tuesday morning there were plenty of shops and stalls selling shells and local handicrafts, as well as other souvenirs. There was a ton of fresh produce available, too! The supermarket has nearly everything you could want (like Tahiti Drink - the local booze-infused juice cocktail).

The Fare Potee on Huahine is a must-see. It's a beautifully reconstruction of a traditional Tahtiian meeting house, now a museum with exhibits about history, archaeology, culture. It's in a historically signfiicant location, surrounded by sacred marae. The wonderful staff--delightfully warm, highly knowledgeable--will welcome you, answer your questions, and enlighten you about Huahine and French Polynesia in general, past, present, and future.

Galerie 'Umatatea is located on the Motu of Maeva, about 800 meters after the bridge, across from the Pension Delord/Camping Vana'a. Melanie works in a variety of mediums--primarily oils on canvas, framed in tropical woods hand carved by a Marquesian sculptor. Her paintings are imbued with the saturated light and colours of Polynesia, and a heartfelt tenderness for the everyday objects, anecdotal attitudes and expressions of the Polynesians. Limited Edition prints available.
go visit melanie shook dupré's studio/gallery in maeva, she's a very talented artist, very prolific. she paints polynesian people and landscapes, scenes of every day life on the island. she's a very pleasant and interesting person and her house and little gallery are cute, a" must see" when you come to Huahine

We visited Bourayne Bay by boat and enjoyed a quiet day. There were very few other boats sharing the bay and the anchorage was sheltered and beautiful. It is definitely worth a visit.

El Monte Taitaa, es el más alto de la isla, la caminata se realiza en tres horas donde lo principal es poder disfrutar de la vista de la montaña que es fantástica.
