One of five Jesuit Missions of the Guaranis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that encompasses Missions in Argentina and Brazil.
It is absolutely mind-boggling to think that a handful of Jesuits were responsible for organizing and educating the local Guaranís so they could build, decorate, and run these huge Missions in the middle of the jungle, far from everywhere. The small museum at the entrance gives you a good idea of the history of the Mission and what you are about to see in the ruins, with all signage and explanations available in English as well as Spanish. The "squawk boxes" dispersed throughout the ruins have short narrations in English explaining what you are looking at. Open from 7AM to 7PM. Very worthwhile.

You can buy 1 ticket that is valid for 15 days and allows access to all of the Jesuit sites.
The site at San Ignacio mini, is impressive. It is a whole town of part restored buildings including churches, houses, schools and Gardens. The jesuits lived within the walls of the colony and were self sufficient. The ruins are beautiful, and you can spend hours wandering around them. This site is the most complete compared to the Santa Ana, 15mins down the road.
dont miss it if you have time to spare
Take a picnic and some water and relax in the sun.

Home of popular South American author Horacio Quiroga.
Splendid! Great insight into the life of Horacio Quiroga. I wasn't aware of who he was until I came here on a excursion. I was traveling with a group of Spanish people so unfortunately (for me) the tour was in Spanish. I did get to walk around and explore the land on my own. They kept a lot of his old items like his bicycle and his camera in his house. Hanging on the wall there's even a Anaconda Skin and his butterfly collection along with a few of his short stories scattered around the house. I read a small short story of his and I instantly got a eerie feeling. His stories are amazing!
Very well kept houses and garden. Bathroom available if needed. Price I paid was Arg$5,-
Even if you don't know this author it's well worth the visit!

You can feel the "Selva Misionera" when you walk in one of the circuits. Between the closed plants and you arrive to the beach at the Parana river. In this place was hidding one the most important nazis during decades..When you are at this place you can understand whow. I think the autorities may add explanations for the visitors.
