Philipsburg is the capital of Dutch St. Maarten, a Caribbean island divided into Dutch and French (Saint Martin) sides. Bargain seekers flock to the duty-free and sales-tax-free stores of Philipsburg's mile-long commercial district. Visitors also enjoy the city's art galleries, historic forts, casinos and zoo, as well as Great Bay Beach and its boardwalk. Offshore, on the 12 Metre Challenge, guests can work as part of the crew on one of five boats used in the 1987 America's Cup competition.

This spot is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant that has some delicious and interesting offerings on a daily basis. You will get a real "island feel" when you eat here, and you will probably try something that you never have tasted before. When we finished our "daily special", Ras offered up an "eye opener" shot...which is rum that has been infused with "healing herbs and spices"....very medicinal. My husband loved it! This is a must do if you are adventurous?

Chesterfield's is a nice waterfront restaurant specializing in seafood. We went shopping one morning, but it was too hot, so we went to Chesterfield's for lunch. My wife had fish and chips and I had the seafood curry, which was very good.
I thought it was closer to town, but it is almost at the cruise ship docks. Get a parking ticket a get it validated for 2 hours of free parking.

It's in the Cole Bay area, facing Simpson Bay Lagoon, in Cole Bay, Sint Maarten. La Sucrière on the french side is not related to us. It is a different company with a different management.
the bakery is amazing and pays tribute to any French bakery. wonderful bread but it doesn't keep very well. so get it fresh daily! espresso is okay but staff clean and service the machine more regularly for it gives a tangy bitter taste to the coffee

For all you can eat fall off the bones ribs this is the place. Located in a parking lot of the Grande Marche but don't let that stop you from eating here. They do a fantastic take out business so that must tell you something. A place where the locals frequent. There is also sandwiches, pasta, fresh fish on the menu as well.

If you are looking for a casual romantic, relaxed restaurant, ocean front with a great view on the bay, The Ocean Lounge restaurant at Holland House is your choice. The menu is a combination of American, Europe and the Caribbean. Appetizers start at $9 and entrees are between $19 and $39. There are also vegetarian options. The Chef's only use the finest ingredients and the wine cellar is awarded a Wine Spectator Award of excellence. Parking is easy in the back street ( free of charge) or just drive up too the front of the hotel and the welcoming staff will help you with valet. The lounge and bar are great locations to have a cocktail and soak up the ambiance with cool music. The Holland House has an unique vibe. You will most certainly enjoy!
The food was very good but the service was lacking. I know we had a new waitress but my gosh. She had to retake our entire order and then three times the wrong food was delivered. They must correct this or people will stop coming. The setting makes up for a lot and Paul tried to make our evening enjoyable.

This Hard Rock in Philipsburg, St. Maarten opened in December, 2010.
Recently we visited the Hard Rock while cruising. The staff were friendly, the food was good, and the drinks cold. I would definitely return againThank you for sharing your experience at Hard Rock Cafe St Maarten. We hope to see you back soon.

This bar is located down near the beach where the Cruise ships come in and you can shop the outside vendors for beach cover-ups, souvenirs and such. When we approached the bar and saw the name of it we laughed and figured I will vacation let’s just check it out. We are happy that we did. The location for an outside bar could not be any better as you can see by just a few of the pictures that I took. If you’re in this area I would recommend trying this bar. We set up on the top where you could look over to see all of the other locals and tourists walking on the side walk down below. Nice Cold beers and the strawberry daiquiri was so good and refreshing. The food was pretty good too.
I would definitely recommend this place. Great place for people watching is well.

We have enjoyed staying in this historic and charming hotel many times and today's visit for a nostalgic lunch exceeded expectations. Our waiter, Chip, was knowledgeable and friendly plus quick to make our desires known to the kitchen. We mixed tuna cappuccino for me with a chicken curried entree for Debra and the results were amazing! Okay. We admit to enjoying their baguettes and crispy French Fries too! The wine was crisp and cold, enjoyed with a fresh breeze from Great Bay overlooking the Cruise ships. History plus beauty equals happiness! Don't miss this one while in Saint Martin. Once the Governor's house and the Queen's retreat, this place has a history you will enjoy! Experience the amazing history of the island as you savor a special meal.

A local off the street in downtown Phillipsburg recommended Caribbean Blend. It did not disappoint us. The food was excellent. We found ourselves licking our fingers. It's probably the best curry chicken I've had. The potions are big so I had enough to enjoy later in the day. The owner was very friendly and the smoothies were good too. Highly recommended.
