I visited as an English speaker. The museum has 3 levels and I recommend you pay extra to visit all 3. The cost I don't recall but it was very reasonable. There are exhibits of ancient history, archeology and nature. Well worth the tour but the place is closed on Mondays.

A very impressive complex right in the heart of the city. There is a memorial flame constantly burning at the foot of the Three Bayonets which is a nice touch. The Bayonets are reached through a Promenade of beautiful flower beds and Fountains which were a delight to see towards the end of spring when the tulips were all in bloom. Most impressive is the cleanliness. No rubbish is allowed to lie around. Many other cities would do well to visit to see how nice a clean city looks and what a good impression it leaves on the visitor. The only down side for me is the constant spitting of the local population. Dodging the pools of spit reminds me of dodging landmines and is very unpleasant. All in all any visitor to this city should spend a quiet hour or so soaking up the atmosphere in this wonderful part of the city.

This church was rebuilt after a gunpowder explosion in the 18th century. Unfortunately the interior is disappointing although the excavations somewhat compensate the loss of historical value. The sight is very nice on the river Dvina.

If you are interested in art history and the name Marc Chagall tells you something you have to go there!
I think there is no better way to understand your favorite artist or writer then to see how his daily life was passing where he was quarreling with his parents and dreaming about conquering the world.
That museum will be such a special spot for everyone who is interested in art and its history.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable lady she explained us how Chagall became world know figure and why the reflection of his childhood is always presented in all of his paints.
They have a souvenir shop where you can buy really cheap magnets and reproductions of his paintings.

Nice statue located on the tourist path. My children enjoyed walking around it, obviously oblivious to what the statue represents.

A summer Amphitheatre is the main concert stage of “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” music festival. The construction itself is unique and there is no lookalike in Europe. This festival annually attracts thousands of people from all over the world. During the week-long festival not only Concerts are held, but also craft fairs and outdoor Exhibitions take place. The historical center of Vitebsk changes into one huge fair with overcrowded streets and constant music playing. It’s a great time in July!

Vitebsk, including this nice church, was ruined during WW2 – the church was recently restored and now you can see it if you will visit Vitebsk.
