Excellent tour, with many original furnishings. Unfortunately tour is offered in specific languages at different times - not necessarily your language when you want to tour. Also, NO PHOTOGRAPHY. I understand no flash due to age of furnishings, paintings and decor, but photography without flash should be allowed - they get very mad and threaten to throw you out if you try to take a photo

Great archeology and hunting museum exhibit in the old barbican, massive italinate fortress on the old moorish citadele. The hunting exhibits are well done if a bit 'tally-ho' and may shock some sensibilities. In the lower caverns of the archeology including roman and megalithic remains, there are swarms of flies on the walls and the don't really bother you, but oh for a can of 'Raid' or 'Dum Dum' as its a bit overwhelming. The views from the castle roof are stunning. Best €3 value we had on our trip

This is a wonderful church. Nice azulejos inside, wonderful altar, where the nossa senhora da conceicao image is surrounded by nice images and a shining frame. Moreover, it is a main religious monument of Portugal, and should be visited. Not to miss!

I am a horse person and a carriage collector and driver. The tour is only in Portuguese and there is NO signage. Purchasing the carriage directory is a must. Thankfully because of my knowledge of carriages, I was able to give my husband a 'tour' of this fabulous collection that shouldn't be missed. The tour guide did get a bit miffed with me since I kind of wandered off showing my husband various things and didn't keep to his tight schedule. NO PROBLEM. It was more than worthwhile to enjoy this historic collection.

This is potentially a highly informative museum, covering where the marble region is, how it was formed, how the marble was/is quarried with lots of mining kit to study. There are also a number of interesting marble sculptures on display.
There was a most informative gentleman on the desk who spoke very good English and effectively gave us a guided tour. I think it is their compensation for no english explanations.
It's a short stroll out of town, just past Lidl. You pay to get in, we paid 1euro each!

Unlike many of the religious buildings throughout Portugal, this church breathes with a living and worshipful presence, full of flowers, and news of its missionaries. The external appearance belies its internal beauty, looking like a town hall rather than a place of worship, situated as it is at the top of the town square. This is possibly a reflection of the early 19th struggles between the Church and emerging republic, but should not put visitors off visiting this special place

Great history surrounding this convent. Brief details can be picked up from the Pousada reception, as it has been converted into a beautiful luxury hotel. Lots of interesting and historical pieces throughout the building and Gardens. Well worth a visit!

This tower (monument) stands outside the entrance to the castle and was the original pillory tower. At the bottom are four frogs carved into the stonework, although they are so word they are now hardly recognizable.

Durante la visita al palazzo di Vila Vicosa si possono ammirare anche pezzi del tesoro. Una collezione davvero notevole di oreficeria e non solo. Certi oggetti sono davvero eccezionali ma in generale tutta la visita è impressionante.

This Baroque church is situated across the square from Ducal Palace. It is very impressive and imposing. Well worth a visit whilst you are at Ducal Palace
