Nice little park with some walks and an aviary with colourful parrots. Even in winter worth a little visit and right next to the champ de Mars.

Musee de Valence, Art & Archeologie

The Museum of Valence is situated in the historic centre of old Valence adjoining the Cathedral of Saint Apollinaire, on the city's first Terrace. It offers wide panoramic views of the Valence countryside, from Vercors to the Mountains of Ardeche. Officially created in 1850, it has been housed since 1911 in the former Episcopal palace, a vast private mansion with a courtyard and private Gardens, which retains many traces of its secular history: a 12th-century fortified Episcopal tower, an ogival gallery, 15th- and 17th-century painted ceilings, and more. Its rich collections of more than 20,000 works offer, in a reinvented itinerary, a wide Panorama of the history of mankind and the arts, from regional prehistory to contemporary art. The Archaeology section retraces the history of civilisations occupying Drome and the mid-Rhone valley from modern times back to prehistory. The art section, which brings together paintings, drawings, sculpture, and decorative arts, places a special emphasis on the theme of landscape, from its reinterpretation by contemporary artists back to its "invention" in the 16th century as an independent genre.

It is an interesting building recently completely refurbished and the combination of old and new was quite lovely. The content was not hugely sustaining so I think it would be best to visit when there's a good exhibition such as the one coming up this summer.

La Maison des Tetes

Reviewed By Alliie - Edinburgh

Valence is home to some really interesting pieces of history, including its maison des tetes. The house is free to look round, but check opening times before you go. You'll see an excellent example of 16th century architecture, depicting gothic-like gargoyles and saints. It does not take long to look around, so make sure you also visit the nearby church Saint-Jean-Baptiste too; one of Valence's most ancient monuments. It's a nice way to while an hour away!

We visited this Cathedral as the sun was rising. The feeling was a mazing as the sun shone through the stained glass windows and filled the church with light and apparitions. The is truly an experience not to miss.

Ever wondered why there is an important population of Armenians in the "Valée du Rhône" or are you just curious?
If you have an hour on a sunday afternoon it's a good idea to check out the museum. You pay your enterance and a guide can show you around for free. If you're lucky you are the only ones showing up at 3pm and you have a private tour.
The guide explains you history of Armenia and its rich culture. It is a real eye-opener this tour and I recommend it for anyone.

Eglise Saint Jean Baptiste

Reviewed By DanishTravelor - Copenhagen, Denmark

Town Hall of Valence

Reviewed By DanishTravelor - Copenhagen, Denmark

Teatro Talia

Reviewed By Vicente A - Altea, Spain
