Ocitània, Terra de Lleure, is a family entertainment company, born of the spirit of adventure and the estimate for our environment. Located of Gualta in the middle of the Baix Emporda, organize recreational activities in nature with friends, family or couple. The silent and amazing Segway X2 for all ages or cool fighting game in which laser strategy and cunning are sharpening. Miniquads for children and burricleta, electric bicycle, ideal for all the family to discover the Empordà. In addition to a zip line, archery, log cabin with barbecue and playground for events, family celebrations, bachelor parties, business meetings, etc.. Ocitània, innovative fun.
We're a pair of pensioners and have had several visits here to use Segways, both on our own and with grandchildren. Each time we booked a one-hour session. Safety is high on the agenda but it does not detract from the enjoyment. Initial training is on-site around their own course, the the leader took us across country to Gualta, a local village. It was charming that in a local resort, our instructor from earlier in the day recognised our grandson and let him have a go on a smaller and lighter version. Thanks Julia.

The week after a bunch of public holidays in winter is probably a good time to visit somewhere like Pals. The maze of cobbled streets were almost deserted, and everything except the church was closed (and we only just managed to get in there before someone came to lock it). It feels very untouched by the modern world, and we easily spent two hours exploring all the little alleyways and staircases. Living in NZ, historical stuff is what we miss, and Pals gave it to us in spades.

Beautiful Medieval City with amazing architecture. We loved exploring the city and checking out some of the local shops and restaurants. We spent about two hours walking around and taking pictures of doors and arches and gorgeous homes and buildings. Very fascinating place and well worth the drive. Great short trip if your staying in Girona

Located on a small hill, the Iberian city of Ullastret overlooks the gentle and peaceful countryside of the Empordà. Between VIth and IInd centuries BC it was one of the largest concentrations of population in the pre-Roman Iberian Peninsula, and the capital town of the indiketes. Strolling among its streets, houses and stately buildings, exploring its magnificent city walls and visiting the museum, will take you back more than 2.500 years ago, at the heart of the Iberian culture.
The ruins here are impressive. You walk around and marvel at how these people lived over 6000 years ago. If your in the area, have a look

This is a very wide stretch of sand with car parking right on the beach. There is plenty of room for all visitors to find their own patch of sand. Not many facilities along it but 1 or 2.

The ruins of a Greek city settled from about 400BC and the later Roman city slightly inland settled in about 200BC after the Punic War. The ruins are ruins but they are well laid out and there is an excellent audioguide which brings the place alive and makes it a most interesting visit. There is a museum which houses the statue of Asklepios, the Greek god of medicine as seen in the picture above. Well worth the 2 to 3 hours, although I guess you would need some interest in history to enjoy it.

Discover the countryside of the Emporda from above as you enjoy the magical sensation of flying with a balloon. Admire the Costa Brava from 1300 m altitude; the bay of Roses, the Medes Islands, the Pyrenees, old villages...and after we will go to have a local breakfast! Say yes to adventure! Shared flights: 160€ per person older than 10 years old, and 100€
A professional team of balloonists and an excellent pilot made this trip a wonderful and unique experience. All care was taken to brief everyone on the event and every safety precaution was taken. It was a beautiful and remarkable flight with a soft landing without (the otherwise usual) tipping over of the basket. Expert execution of the flight!!!
Afterwards a typical Catalan lunch was served, and a bottle of bubbly spirit was popped :-) Beautiful pictures, the map of the route and altitudes of the flight and a personal magnetic photo are included! Really recommended!!!

As we walked the lanes of this small village a passerby told us to visit the museum which was just up the road from where we were in Carrer Extramurs. Although it was early Sunday evening and out of high season the premises were open but abandoned. We were able to inspect the exhibits at whim and wander where we wanted. At home doing something like that would be tantamount to giving all the exhibits away! As the name implies the collection centres on rural life in this area from years gone by. Lots of farm equipment, explanations of how things were done and pictures of people doing them.
Incredibly entrance is free and yes much is very dusty and looks as if it hasn't moved in years but on a much more positive note someone has spent an extraordinary amount of time collecting the artefacts and producing explanatory labelling albeit in Spanish.
I applaud the time and effort that has gone into keeping this museum open and strongly recommend anyone visiting the area to pop in. When open the museum shop seems to sell lots of local produce and goodies which we could only gaze at through the window.
We wrote a note of gratitude in their visitors booked, quietly closed the door behind us and left!

Scuba diving on the Medes Islands, one of the very best diving locations in the Med. Groupers everywhere, eagle rays, tunas, coral, cave diving etc. Top-notch PADI diving center with 2 large well-equipped special-purpose diving boats. Extremely professional and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
