The old adage, you get what you pay for is true here. Tested the free camping, there is a reason it’s free! Great that the community have this facility available to tourists! No shower though and not too tidy. We also had someone try and break in at 05:30!!!

Just a quiet place to reflect and take in the beauty of nature. The grounds are very well kept and nicely manicured. With either small children or as I was just reflecting quietly you will totally enjoy your time.

This 153 years old botanic garden is a good place for the whole family. Related to the town size of Timaru, it is a nice pretty garden, for family gathering, strolling, exercising, you named it. Flowers beds, mature big trees, water ponds with ducks, a bit rolling ground, and one aviary corner. Robert Burns statue is welcoming visitors, Timaru is one of four places in NZ where you can find Robert Burns statues.

Handy walking and cycling trial and track by the ocean and Saltwater Creek. Can be done by anyone including family with young children and dogs. Cycling track is very popular. Track can be extended up to Jack point lighthouse and even further. Parking is not far away. Good in any weather. Recommended for bird watchers, dog walking or physical activity by any nature lovers. A lot of native birds to watch.
