It never hurts to learn a little about history and that's exactly what you can get during a short visit at this museum. The creation of Argentina is well presented in the exact place where it happened. Texts are in Spanish only but quite understandable with a basic command and the building itself is very nice. Not a must but pleasant nevertheless.

The drive up and surrounding areas are just breathtaking. A great chance to really unwind and enjoy the scenery. The museum underneath the statue has English information with the exhibits. As you go around the area there are many stalls that you can buy unique souvenirs from - which was a highlight for us.

El Mollar to me is by far the better place in Tafi as to natur and typical character. I recommend to follow the road to Estancias Carreras. You will be impressed and never forget.

We walked 2 km northeast from our Hotel Metropol to this free museum surrounded by a steam locomotive, 2 cylinder steam engine with huge flywheel, and various field equipment.
The Spanish speaking attendant instructed our self tour beginning in the 2 room out building. The first room had a movie displaying the timeline of this industry and the second had a huge ox drawn sugarcane cart, boiling vats, and crushing equipment. Next door was the 1820’s “José Eusebio Colombres” home with furnishings, photographs, and a movie of the sugarcane harvesting and factory advances to process sugar. This man is credited with planting the cane on this farm in 1821 (brought originally by the early Jesuits), having the first mill, thus beginning this provinces profitable industry.
Although all information is in Spanish, we felt our visit was most helpful in understanding the historical development of the Argentine sugarcane industry.

This is an old family home with beautiful architecture from the Spanish Renaissance and kept in very good shape. It was built middle of the 19th century making it one of the oldest building around the central "9 de Julio" square. In 1924 it was renovated and subject to interior changes. The Chamber of Commerce of Tucuman (representing all different industrial & productive associations) is located here.
