Ben Lomond

We went up the tourist path and down the ptarmigan - worked well for us - I think the tourist route for the climb is marginally easier and having the flat walk along by the loch at the end of the day rather than the beginning suited us. Ran into all sorts of weather on the day and it was certainly cold in driving rain and cloud near the top. But the wind blew away the cloud and the views are superb. It's a bigger climb than many similar sized Mountains because you start literally from sea level.

Unforgettable iconic seaplane flights over one of the most magnificent landscapes in the world!

They made special arrangements for the flight so our 8 year old son who has learning difficulty and visual impairments, could enjoy the flight. Very considerate and professional and allowed him to enjoy what was a real memory making day for him. Could not thank them enough.
The flight and views are stunning, right out towards Jura, Arron and the firth of Clyde. Quite simply well worth the expense for our wee boy, helping to build stunning positive memories and family experiences. We will be booking again.

Loch Long is a beautiful little loch dwarfed by it’s much larger and more storied neighbor Loch Lomond, but it is really stunning in its own right, especially if you are in a cozy hotel room or pub overlooking the water and the Mountains on the other side.

We finally reached the “Bonnie Banks” of Loch Lomond for a one hour CRUISE on the loch. They say that, the one and only nudist beach is at the west end of the Lock (burrrrr).
You might have heard the song about Loch Lomond “You take the high road and I take the low road” ---- A little trivia for you on what the song is all about = Turns out there were two friends in a French prison and Scotsmen consider their spirits will always return to their home in Scotland when they die. One was to be released and one to be executed. = The one to be executed is singing the song, and tells the other they will both return to Loch Lomond; the one released via the high road and he (the executed) the low road and he will be there before him.
Tom had been in this area with his submarine activity five times many years ago but did not appreciate the area as much as he did today (for whatever reason it was a lot WETTER back then).

This is a must do walk hill climb if visiting Loch Lomond.
Only takes 45 mins to the top if you are very fit. Starting from the visitor centre car park (free) Fantastic views of the Loch and surrounding areas. Very steep in places but our Jack Russell whose legs are only bit shorter than mine, made it with a few rests on the way up. But I need to admit it took him 3 days to recover.
I found it very steep on the way down and it took a lot longer to get down that it did to get up!

Glen Croe is very under rated - I love the view over Loch Restil with the craggy Mountains dropping into its dark waters.Beautiful.This road itself winds up to a parking area before levelling off, a fine drive. IN fact, the whol e drive to Inveraray is really wonderful - lochs and Mountains round every corner.

This island was visited during a three night stay in Luss.
The trail walk is excellent and there is plenty of wildlife on offer.
An easy to follow route with numbered posts to refer to within the guide leaflet was a nice touch.
With loads of history and excellent sights all the way round I would recommend this location to families.
The slight climb to the mini-summit of the island is well worth 10 minutes of hard work because the surrounding views are incredible, there is also a bench right at the top to rest at.
We finished up by having lunch at the beach whilst waiting for the boat to return which was lovely as it was a very nice day.
Plenty of Seating and BBQ areas should you wish, but we had brought our own snacks to enjoy in the tranquil area.
I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to explore a new location.

Luss Parish Church

Reviewed By Marion S - New Cumnock, Scotland, United Kingdom

Been in this Church and the grounds when holidaying in Luss. It is an old church with a very interesting interior and is beautifully built. The old cemetery is steeped in history too and if you are interested in the history of Luss please give this tourist attraction a visit. Many weddings take place here and plenty celebrities have been seen arriving or leaving this picturesque church. There used to be a Scottish Soap called Take the High Road and this Church was used frequently for filming, so there were plenty of well known actors and actresses strolled through these Church Doors.
