Pyla (Greek: Πύλα; Turkish: Pile) is a village in Larnaca District, Cyprus. It is one of only four villages located within the United Nations Buffer Zone, the other three being Athienou, Troulloi and Deneia. Pyla is located in the eastern part of the island, adjacent to the British Sovereign Base Area of Dhekelia. From a legal point of view, it is administered as all other areas controlled by the government of the Republic of Cyprus.

Located in the heart of Larnaca.
A magnificent church with a great historical value.
I got married in this church and it was a great experience. Many tourists and locals are visiting the place on an everyday basis.
Opposite the church you can find many small coffee shops to sit and enjoy the warm weather of Cyprus.

CyHerbia Gardens and nature park is situated in the village of Avgorou, and includes a beautifully landscaped herb garden, laid out into 9 different themes, a lavender meditation labyrinth, a woodland area with the endemic trees and shrubs of Cyprus, and the first and only maze (2000 sq.m.) of the island. On site visitors can witness the extraction of essential oil. There is a shop with our own organic herbal products and a tea room overlooking the Gardens, where light lunches, cakes and a large selection of teas are prepared fresh every day.
We went there as a family for Lavender Festival. It was a shocking disappointment. I cannot even begin to describe how shocked I was...firstly because it did not feel like a festival!
Just like your ordinary day where people try to make as much money as they can.
I appreciate that a botanical garden in Cyprus is on a whole different level to the other ones I have visited, due to Cyprus climate...so I did not expect much and I was right.
Not many herbs, not many plants...and Lavender...well...I could describe the Lavender garden as a "place with a little bit more Lavender".
Not impressed.
The shop was very expensive!
A shout to the Russian tourists out there, do not bother buying the herbs for that price, you can get them in Russia at a pharmacy for much cheaper!

This beach was ideal for my trip as it was near to my hotel. It had sunbeds if required also an area where you could use a beach mat/towels. It was ideal for families and safe for children. There were cafes and bars available for drinks and snacks along the seafront.

Pottery Workshop
Such a pleasant experience... We arrived and asked if we could have a go at trying some pottery and the guy dropped what he was doing and got us started straight away. He helped us to not create a complete disaster. We got to purchase the pots too which needed to be collected a week later. The cost was a lovely surprise too as i was willing to pay more than expected. We finished with tea and homemade breads. Thankyou for a great experience.

Comfortable trek through the pine Forests and herd of goats. The higher you walk, the more amazing the views below are becoming. On the very top of the hill don't miss the white cliffs (they are located north-west a bit off the trek) from which you can get one of the most breathtaking views over the Arnautis cape. It's just amazing! It took us around 4 hours with the kids in slow pace including a picnic break on the top of the hill. It seems that the best time for the trail is winter, when the sun is not that hot. In good weather with clear air, the southern shore of Turkey becomes visible from this point.
