Derek took us on a beautiful kayaking trip to some real nice snorkeling.
Lots of fish and healthy coral
He then called a friend who is a fisherman to bring some lobsters.
!5 minutes later the boat arrived.Derek made some of the best carib lobsters ever.
Another great Dominica day.
The food was so good we came back the next day for the amazing creol breakfast. With home smoked fish and cocoa from beans he ground as we waited.

People who pretend that Dominica hasn't good Beaches have certainly not visited Batibou. We have seen a lot of beautiful Beaches in the world, but this is one of our favourites! Imagine a picture perfect bay with golden sand, perfectly swimmable (no rocks in the water, no seaweed), flanked by coconut and other tropical trees. It's cleaned daily, there are security guards and a restaurant/bar where we had one of the best meals of our trip, served on a palm leaf. The cook Irma is talented and friendly. In other countries such a beach would be crowded and full of hotels and restaurants. Not so in Dominica - beside of another couple we had it for ourselves. Yes, the road is in miserable condition, but not a big problem if you have a 4WD. And it's part of the experience!

All our tours are customized to your length of stay and riding ability. Riders will view a mixture of local agriculture and forest, several species of birds and local livestock. We offer five different trails and a beach ride where you can swim with the horses. It's a lot of fun.
I've seen movies where people go horseback riding on the beach in the water, and I've always wanted to do that. I finally was able to!! Not only that, but we got to ride through beautiful fairytale-looking Forests. Such nice people and I learned a lot of interesting information about the island and some of the plants. A great experience that I'd recommend to anyone who visits Dominica.

We drove to Toucari to snorkel and found out you can go around the point (by boat) and snorkel or dive to a sunken ship. That would have been uber cool but we weren't in the know! Regardless, we snorkeled and bobbed in the water while drinking local rum and walked the tiny street. Beautiful little bay, very calm for beginner snorkelers. Food available at a few restaurants. Saw a monster sting-ray.

Located just below fabulous 100' tall Syndicate Falls, brand new Camp DominEco now features overnight camping in our huge riverside family size tents, two all wood tree houses (one in a cinnamon tree!)and enjoy the bush bar, organic farming, and huge herb garden...Agro Tourism at it's best! We also have a nice "emerald pool" of our own, see the photos. Call for a taxi to Camp DominEco and stay the night while hiking the Waitikubuli trail. Parrots, fruits, drinks, souvenirs, we may even have a zip line by the time you arrive! Peace. Captain Mark
First let it be known this is NOT the Syndicate Nature Trail that is included with the one week National Park pass. You have to pay a fee to cross private land to access these falls. The sign says they use the money to maintain the trail but frankly I did not see much evidence the maintaince actually happens.
That said the falls are worh the 20 minute walk and the water is refreshingly cool on a hot day. Don't forget your bathing suit or be comfortable skinny dipping.

Cabrits Dive Centre is Dominica's only PADI 5 Star Dive Centre of Dominica. We specialize in individual and small group diving principally to the stay over tourist and yachting community. We will also be happy to help you with arranging accommodation, island tours, and restaurant Reservations.
My partner and I dove with Pete and had a serious mishap because of equipment we rented from him. He was our divemaster. Rather than administer proper medical care to a diver who had just experienced a rapid ascent from 70+ feet, he suggested that I disconnect my BCD and continue diving. I ended up experiencing "bends" for the first time in my 28 diving career. No oxygen or life preservers on boat.

Education, Research, Exploration and Adventure Diving -Focusing on small groups Island Dive Operations is here to make your diving experience in forgetable
Fabien is very knowledgeable of the local conditions for diving in the Portsmouth area. He gives very good briefings and works hard for his guests. He is an excellent diver and dive leader and is a pleasure to dive with. Our group did 10 dives with him and each of the dive sites was unique and interesting. The Pole to Pole dive site is one of my favorites because it has quite a variety of creatures and you never know even eagle rays show up at the site.
