Otley is a market town and civil parish at a bridging point on the River Wharfe in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, England. Historically a part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, the population was 13,668 at the 2011 census. It is in two portions: that south of the river includes the historic town of Otley; that north of the river is Newall, which was formerly a separate township. The town is in lower Wharfedale on the A660 which connects it to Leeds.

No way would I ever get on a little rowing boat or pedalo. So I thought my kids were going to be left high and dry by the "one person over 18" rule.
Not so. After a cheeky ask, the guy in charge asked one of the boat crew, Eva, if she would accompany my kids.
Yippee! Kids were on and gone. Big smiles all round.
Boat Crew. Thank you soooo much Eva for taking the time to make our day.

Even when I lived in Leeds, I often made the journey to see favourite artists, who never made it to Leeds because the cost of the few venues was prohibitive. The Courthouse, and its associated venue in Saltaire, offer relaxed affordable evenings in fine surroundings. I've travelled to The Sage in Gateshead, and paid through the nose to see performers, only to find they were on here at a fraction of the price. The small scale makes it intimate, and it's clearly popular with the performers, which helps them, and it shows.

We were driving along the Main Street in Otley when I spotted this unusual arcade, almost hidden amongst the shops. There are antiques, collectors items, a jeweller and one of those old fashioned chandlery stores where you can buy almost everything under the sun. There are a couple of excellent cafes just a few steps away.

Went with friends on a Sunday evening having pre booked. Friendly staff. Large selection of food on menu to suit all tastes at reasonable prices. Food arrived promptly well presented with good portions. Have a drink on the verandah and take in the lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Plenty of parking space. Would return.

When it was first announced that the Church was to undergo a refurbishment which meant removing the pews, a lot of people thought this would have a negative impact on the Church. However, since the renovations I've never known the Church to be so busy and to host so many different events.
I attended the nativity plays at Christmas and also a fundraising event for the Alzheimer's Society, both of which wouldn't have been as successful if it hadn't undergone the refurbishment.
It's a great asset to the town of Otley and the community for everyone, regardless of religious belief or lack of.

I always call here when I visit Otley, it's a nice place which has books and old-fashioned sweets in one room, and all sorts of antiques and vintage collectibles in another. There are lots of cabinets, and I've rarely left without a bargain - from old lighters to cutlery to penknives. There seems to be something for everyone here. The staff are always really friendly too. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

The Jubilee clock stands proudly, but not over tall, on the edge of the market square near the Buttercross. The road goes directly past so you can see it from a vehicle. The clock is fully operational- no chimes. The plaque on the side gives information. The water spout no longer works. It was given a complete make over and clean up a few years ago. A lovely piece of history. Stop and take a look as not people do.

This was refurbished in time for the Tour de France, shortly after we moved to lovely Otley, and brought the total of pub numbers to 20; not bad for such a small town! Subdued decor, with little tealights on every table, it is a restful place to pop into by day after a walk with the dog or a mooch around the various shops/markets in the area. We sampled the 'pork pie & cheese with pickles', an inexpensive snack which was ideal with the good choice of beers and wine on offer. We were back in on Halloween, when it was all decked out complete with the customary fake spiders and cobwebs, and the atmosphere was great, with a steady flow of customers of differing ages, some of whom, we gather, were regulars.

We had a lovely afternoon tea in the most relaxed gorgeous surroundings! Friendly staff, relaxed feel in a peaceful country setting and loved the chickens! Would recommend as a brilliant place. Appears to open bank holidays so not open all the time but we will be back... For more hot honey cake!! Thank you

Not a bad place for a coffee - especially infront of a nice roaring fire. However our coffee cups were sticky on the outside upon receipt and when I visited the gents toilets - cleaning really wasn't up to the standards expected with flem on the walls and urine on the floor. Staff at bar pleasant but cleaning standards require improvement.
